Luxe high-rise overlooking the Arabian Gulf with huge rooms, seven dining options and a swim-up bar

The Lowdown

The Shangri-La brand’s first hotel in Qatar is a luxe high-rise that offers stunning views of Doha’s futuristic skyline. From the opulent lobby, which features marble columns and a glittering chandelier, to the seven drinking and dining options, this 272-room property offers all the hallmarks you’d expect from these experts in high-end hospitality. Starting at 500 square feet, the guestrooms are some of the largest in the city, and they feature free WiFi, 47-inch TVs, tea- and coffeemaking facilities, pillow menus and signature Shangri-La beds that use body contouring technology. Kick back by the pool (be sure to take advantage of the swim-up bar) or indulge in a treatment at CHI, The Spa. The dining options include Fuego for Argentine steaks and South American wines, Sridan for Middle Eastern specialties served at food stations modeled on an Arabian souk, and Yabby for seafood from the Arabian Gulf. Enjoy a nightcap at The Den, a wood-paneled piano bar, or head up to the hotel’s top floors to dance and drink at the Shanghai Club.

In the Area

The hotel is located between the City Center Mall (including direct links) and the Convention Center, a 20-minute drive from the airport and a short drive from top sights, including the Grand Mosque and Dhow Harbor. Check out the Museum of Islamic Art, the Al Koot Fort and the artificial island, the Pearl. Pick up souveniors at Souq Waqif, which translates as “standing market,” or head to the Gold Souk to shop for jewels.

Another Great property
Reviewed 5 days ago

I have stayed at this property 14 times over the last 2 years.
Great location easy access to the city center mall and down town.
I was met at reception by friendly smile and checked in with ease .

As it is Ramadan it was explained where food and beverages would be available.not a lot of locations .

Alcoholic beverages are not being severed anywhere in the hotel except in your room .
This rule included the horizon lounge .

Smoking and non alcoholic beverages were allowed at the pool but the staff there seemed reluctant and not very helpfully in getting even water for the guests .
In room dining was slow at took well over the 30 minutes promised when ordered.
All in all the hotel stay was great and I look forward to coming back.

Paradise - Unlocked
Reviewed 7 days ago

Located in West Bay Area of Doha and adjacent to City Centre Mall with a direct walkway to the mall, Shangri La Doha stands up to its reputation. The hotel chain is a series in paradise and the Doha property is another paradise unlocked to savour. The staff is well trained and indulgent, but somehow I find them to be lacking the standards of other Shangri La hotels, is it culture of Doha, or something else? The executive suite was huge with separate sitting area. A tray of sweets and dates welcomed me and the idea was charming. The horizon club lounge was lavish and had an array of beverages including premium liquor. When I did not find anything substantial in the vegetarian selection, the chef quickly whipped out spring rolls for me, and small gestures like these touch your heart. The breakfast spread was appropriate and again the service 7/10 when you are looking for 10/10. This is an area which they need to work out. All in all its a lovely place to stay in Doha with good standards.

Afternoon tea
Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Had a lovely afternoon tea food beautiful and fresh. There was a big group of us and we had a lot of food left i asked for it to be packed up fir which i signed a form happy to do this but sadly on return home discovered that less than half had been packed up which was a real shame to spoil what had been lovely afternoon. I called to complain and was assured i would get return call still waiting. Very disapointing customer service
