Set on eight beachfront acres just off San Juan’s ritzy Isla Verde Avenue, this opulent outpost of the vaunted Ritz-Carlton brand mixes Continental elegance with local flavors. Marble, crystal, brocade fabrics, wrought-iron balustrades and gilded moldings dominate airy spaces, while floor-to-ceiling windows frame a picturesque tropical setting perfectly, including the beachfront pool behind the lobby. Guest rooms are spacious retreats opening to ocean or garden views with big marble bathrooms featuring a tub/shower combo. The upgrade to the ninth-floor club level is well worth it for access to a lounge where free continental breakfasts, afternoon snacks, and evening wine hors d’oeuvres are served.
In the Area
The beach backing this Ritz-Carlton may not be the sexiest strip of sand on Puerto Rico, but when you add the brand’s signature service this is one of San Juan’s best. Whether you work up an appetite swimming in azure sea or soaking in the sun, the resort’s five on-site restaurants have you covered whether you crave a rib eye grilled up at BLT Steak or a taste of Italy at Il Mulino New York. The resort’s casino is one of the island’s best bets for classic style, table games and live music.
How to Get There
Family and I stayed here prior to the devastating hurricanes that damaged so much of the beautiful island of Puerto Rico. Service was impeccable. Staff was friendly and helpful. Amenities were extraordinary. Definitely a place to revisit to be pampered and treated like royalty. After major renovations I believe this hotel is set to reopen in October 2018. We returned to Puerto Rico for vacation in July 2018 and they were still working on this property so we had to stay at a comparable hotel nearby. Can’t wait to return and enjoy ourselves again.
I've stayed at a handful of Ritz Carlton locations, this location is very beautiful but not up to Ritz standards in my opinion.. Compared to the service Grand Cayman, Aruba and Cancun this place doesn't meet up to their standards, but it is a nice property.
We had a Family Reunion celebrating my father's 88th Birthday. The rooms and service was great and we loved BLT Restaurant. The pool was great but the ocean rocky and not like the Caribbean sea in the US VI
