Set on eight beachfront acres just off San Juan’s ritzy Isla Verde Avenue, this opulent outpost of the vaunted Ritz-Carlton brand mixes Continental elegance with local flavors. Marble, crystal, brocade fabrics, wrought-iron balustrades and gilded moldings dominate airy spaces, while floor-to-ceiling windows frame a picturesque tropical setting perfectly, including the beachfront pool behind the lobby. Guest rooms are spacious retreats opening to ocean or garden views with big marble bathrooms featuring a tub/shower combo. The upgrade to the ninth-floor club level is well worth it for access to a lounge where free continental breakfasts, afternoon snacks, and evening wine hors d’oeuvres are served.
In the Area
The beach backing this Ritz-Carlton may not be the sexiest strip of sand on Puerto Rico, but when you add the brand’s signature service this is one of San Juan’s best. Whether you work up an appetite swimming in azure sea or soaking in the sun, the resort’s five on-site restaurants have you covered whether you crave a rib eye grilled up at BLT Steak or a taste of Italy at Il Mulino New York. The resort’s casino is one of the island’s best bets for classic style, table games and live music.
How to Get There
My family of 6 stayed in 2 rooms at this hotel. We found the entire hotel quite lovely, the staff very friendly and the pool and beach areas were gorgeous indeed. Also walking distance to quite a few restaurant options which was great! Can't wait to go back. Our hearts go out to the people of Puerto Rico and we pray for a strong recovery.
We had a nice stay here. Decent property. The casino was very nice but was kind of small. The restaurants were all nice and the spa and the gym satisfied us. If I was in San Juan I would stay here again
Near SJU and outside the heavy traffic area of San Juan. Excellent service. Great beach on property. Nearby great restaurant El Metropolitano. Quiet location. Pricey breakfast but there are several restaurants nearby with more reasonable prices.
We had booked 2nights at this property to start our 2 weeks long vacation. My husband and I were to spend two nights to start our trip before transfer to another Ritz property. After 10 nights at the Dorado Beach Reserve we were to come back to the Ritz San Juan property to overnight before our flight home.
The after effects of hurricane Maria made our trip to Puerto Rico impossible. Best laid plans ! ....
I just wanted to comment on the amazing customer service I received while first researching the accommodations, prior to booking our suite and the ease of cancelation.
We were disappointed to miss what was to be an amazing trip and deeply saddened for all the people of Puerto Rico.
Hoping to be back soon....
I went with a friend for a quick 3 day vacation. The pool area is beautiful and the bar made sure we were never hungry or thirsty.
The breakfast at the hotel is also a massive spread with mimosas that you can take to the pool too.
There are also great restaurants in the resort, our favorite one being the Italian one.
