Dominican Republic stay. At Cofresi Palm Beach & Spa Resort, these
are just means to an end – days (and nights) of tropical adventure that
befit your setting amid beaches, palms and pools. With 12 swimming
holes, seven beaches, 11 restaurants, 12 bars, two entertainment venues
and a nightclub, this resort gives you no shortage of choices for having
your tropical getaway your way.
Yes, you have all the tools in
hand to get the fun started, like contemporary design that sets an
upbeat, beachy tone and makes you want to hit the sand or go for a swim.
Your accommodation is a comfortable place to rest up for the
experiences available for you to try, like spa treatments and scuba
certifications. But it’s never the material things that matter when it
comes to creating moments – it’s the things you do, as well as the
people you meet. Thanks to the sheer size and scope of this sprawling
property, these are all included, too.
Good to know
all-inclusive basis includes buffet-style breakfast, lunch and dinner; house wine with meals, plus beer, spirits, cocktails,
juices and soft drinks from 12 all-guest bars located
throughout the property; 24-hour food and beverages available in select
locations; daytime and late-night snacks located throughout the
property; and taxes.
The rooms at Cofresi Palm Beach are just what you’d
expect from a beach resort: casual, laid-back and comfortable.
Contemporary design, wooden furnishings, plush bedding and marble
accents make these accommodations luxury retreats, surrounded by the
idyllic scenery of the Caribbean. Ceiling fans and air conditioning keep
things cool in the warm island climate, while the warm palettes help
keep the design feeling fresh – and you’ll love the view of the gardens.
11 restaurants and 12 bars, the property waves away any concerns you
might have about growling stomachs during your stay. From Asian fusion,
Italian and Indian to kosher choices and local Dominican fare, the
cuisine includes a wide range of flavors, served as buffets or in
intimate sit-down settings. The
choices are vast and will certainly quiet your stomach (though they may
make your mouth water).
Inspired by the
calming energy of an Asian temple, Yin Yang Spa blends Asian techniques
with Caribbean culture to give you a unique spa experience. It features
showers, a sauna and health-club facilities, ideal for when you’re
looking to find relaxation and comfort during your getaway. It also
offers a full range of services, from body treatments and facials to
aromatherapy. Please note that spa treatments and facilities are not part of the all-inclusive plan and are subject to fees.
Hailed as the most
beautiful land eyes had ever seen by Christopher Columbus, the Dominican
Republic is rich in both beauty and history, and Puerto Plata is one of
the nation’s enchanting cities, set on the northern shore. Its crystal
clear beaches, tropical landscape, charming architecture and picturesque
streets, lined with historic mansions, make this the perfect getaway if
you want to spend your days exploring a coastal paradise with European
style and centuries of history.
How to Get There
For those of you who have been here before, I am happy to report that waffles as a new breakfast buffet staple. There haven't been many changes to the breakfast offerings in last year's so this was a nice surprise. And I was even more pleasantly surprised at how tasty they were!
However, this was not the only surprise we had. And while this trip did not disappoint, and maybe a new customer wouldn't even have noticed the issues, it was definitely below the standards we have come to expect with our 7 precious stays.
We upgraded to a junior suite with an ocean view and we were assigned room 40312. These rooms are all about the same design and layout, and the crib we ordered was already there when we arrived late at night. We didn't take much time to look around as we ran for the last of the buffet and back to bed. The next morning is when I realized that our ocean view was mostly obstructed by the roof of the Dominican Restaurant. I assume the snippet of water was why we paid the premium that we did.
Not worrying about the view as we had all week to sit by the water, we carried on with our day. We saw on the notice boards that a show I have wanted to see for years, and always missed, was happening that night. Only, the show began at 9:30pm and we were traveling with a toddler! I may be wrong, but I am pretty sure that shows were earlier in previous years. This was disappointing, and I missed the show once again.
Back in our room, around 8pm, we hear music coming from the restaurant. Expected. But then, very loud drumming! Over and over again. This pattern of restaurant noise, music and drumming would repeat itself until 10pm and then the staff would spend another half hour or so dragging around tables, chairs and cleaning up. Every... Single... Night.
I should have asked to change rooms, but with a toddler settled into a routine and our bags unpacked I just did the even think about it. So, each day we went back to our room mid afternoon and napped.
So, on our last day we were expected to check out at 1pm. Nap time. The Transat Agent, Freddy, requested a 2hr extension as he knew of our noise issues but the hotel only agreed to give us 1hr. We appreciated any time they could give us, for free, but they could have done better. Maybe I should have asked for a free upgrade the next time we stay.
As a repeat customer, who will be returning, I was disappointed with the classification of the room, the view and the noise. I remember, before this company owned the resort, this restaurant was used as a lunch buffet and snack bar with only 1 or 2 dinners during the week. I wondered why but now I understand. This restaurant could easily be converted back to this because the current beach snack bar options of hot dogs, hamburgers and pasta are quite limiting.
** Additionally, I have mentioned this in my previous reviews and I will continue to mention it. The room doors are not safe for those of us traveling with children. My 2yr old last year, 3yr old this year can open the lock and handlle with ease. A mechanism, out of reach, should be installed on the doors. As we will not be using a crib next year, I will be buying my own travel door lock system and/or alarm, but I shouldn't have to do this. **
I had some other comments and suggestions that I would like to share with management if someone could reach out to me. Thanks!
We have been coming to Confresi Palms for many years. They are like family to us. Jorge Luis Santos Padilla always looks us up and makes our stay so much fun!!
Jose Rafael Castillo has our breakfast ready for us every morning at the Casablanca. He has fresh ice tea made as well.
Every one on the resort spoils us!! Always look forward to seeing everyone again in the winter.
Very good vacation in the books 2019
I was worried about the reviews at first but once we got there it was great, the check in process was very fast, the room was very clean only problem was that our door lock broke the 2nd day we were there but the maintenance fixed it very quick. Other than that the resort was great and the animation team made the trip worth it. Thanks to Champion, 5 Star, Black Diamond, Julio Nice, Mosquito, Superman and everyone else who’s part of the team!
Reception is slow, not welcoming, not efficient.
Guest services is very slow as only 1 person for restaurant reservations with over 450 rooms
Salad bars in most of all restaurants and fresh. The Brazilian has air conditioning and it is beautiful.
Shows: Great Micheal Jackson show, rain or shine, great costumes and dancer's. No nightlife/Dancing NONE.
Bars: They are everywhere, lack of happy barmen/women hard to get a smile but Jolande was awesome!
Rooms: Beds are comfortable but most of them are next to lane ways for golf carts, shuttles and scooters, making it very noisy from 7am to 11pm.
Room service: Ok for the first couple days. Lack of towels, never on time or even never. Buildings are 3 floors with stairways no elevators.
Pools: Many of them and they are beautiful a lot of chairs, lifeguards in all of them and at the beach. Short beach U shape that had a lot of seaweed and garbage, get ready to get up at 5h30 am to get a Palapas bed on the beach side, with reason as they are beautiful, clean and comfortable.
Vendors and boutiques are nice as they do not walk to your chair to sell you under presure.
Security: I felt very safe, many agents.
Public washrooms were all clean.
Activities: We did 2 activities, went Catamaran and snorkeling and scuba diving both in Sosua. Unfortunately they are both in the same bay and near the shore were there is traffic, pollution and visibility was unfortunately not clear.
Jason at check out was very efficient.
We will not go back.
Hotel was beautiful. Food was good. Entertainment was great. Shout out to Champion - what a guy!! So much fun and very entertaining!!! Thanks for making our trip so memorable Champion! Great time for everyone.
