Boutique Riviera Maya stay between Cancun and Tulum, with just 30 rooms, a white sand beach and quiet scene
Tucked between a yacht-filled marina and a meandering golf course, this 30-room hideaway has hammocks and Jacuzzis in all its breezy rooms. It packs a white beach, snorkel-worthy water and palapa pool bar into the mix, for a blissful Riviera Maya stay without cars or crowds. All of the rooms and suites, whether facing the sea, the marina or the garden, have a good-size balcony or terrace with a Jacuzzi, a white cotton hammock and a two-seat couch. Showers with glass doors that open to the outdoors are great fun, especially under starry skies. Besides the two pools, surrounded by padded blue lounge chairs, the palapa-shaded Piña Colada Jacuzzi Beach Bar caters to adults, while baskets filled with beach toys and an adjoining kiddie pool keep the little ones busy. There are four restaurants, including El Xenote, which serves Yucatan specialties like fish baked in banana leaves.
In the Area
Beyond the creature comforts, the Omni Puerto Aventuras is surrounded by the Yucatan’s natural beauty. Yachts and sailboats sway in the marina beside dolphins and sea turtles and at the beach, the on-site dive shop offers boat rides to nearby coral reefs swarming with sea creatures. Or you can hook a marlin with Puerto Aventura’s Sportfishing’s yachts, which depart from the marina. For golf lovers, the nine-hole Puerto Aventuras Golf Course winds through the property, and you can check out the booty from an 18th-century shipwreck at the Museo CEDAM, a small nautical and underwater museum in the commercial center at Puerto Aventuras.
