How to Get There
My husband and I still can't stop thinking about the most amazing experience we have ever had. Hotel Rocca Della Sena will forever hold a spot in our hearts as well spent 2 weeks there on our honeymoon. Everything from the front gate to the steps it takes to go to the beach, we absolutely loved it all. Lets start by explaining how you get into the property, there's a front gate and you can't get in unless you ring a bell and they have camera's on the outside so they can see who comes in. Then there's stairs to go to the upstairs rooms or stairs to go down to the main lobby, breakfast area and outdoor patio. Firstly I need to express just how lovely and very kind the receptionists are. Cristina & Romyna go above and beyond for their guests as well as Mattia & Giovanni the two gentlemen who run the breakfast in the morning and the bar at night.
Our room was big, clean and there were no words to be said about just how beautiful the balcony with the waterfront view was. Hands down the best view you could ever dream of having. It's peaceful and quiet just absolutely breath-taking. One of our favorite things at the hotel was the breakfast - we looked forward to waking up early so we could enjoy all the yummy treats. (see pictures) This was a relaxing trip so we spent every day on the beach. We can't wait to come back to this hotel for another long and well deserved vacation.
The first day we arrived, we were distraught. We had the worst trip from JFK, our original flight was cancelled and then our luggage got lost as well as my husbands backpack. When we arrived at the hotel - Cristina was there to greet us and we told her what had happened. She made sure to give us an update on if the airport was sending a courier with our luggage. Every time we made contact with her or Romyna we got an update on when they would arrive. After 5 days without luggage we finally received them and they were just as excited as we were.
As we got use to the area there were always restaurants and things to do that we of course had no idea about so we always asked Cristina & Romyna for recommendations and they never let us down! Each night we had great meals from their many suggestions. At the end of our trip not only did we make memories but we made friends!
My husband and I booked a stay at this hotel. Unfortunately, we could not stay the whole duration due to a medical emergency. Cristina was able to call a doctor, assist in translation, and schedule the most appropriate immediate transfer for us. The hotel even contacted us after we arrived back to the states to see how I was doing. That is TOP notch customer service.
The rooms were modern, clean, and decent sized.
The breakfast was good. The lunch was great.
The view was heavenly and the service was TOP notch.
Romyna and Cristina helped us book excursions although we were not able to make them due to the medical emergency. The hotel offers a small gym with incredible views and spa services upon request.
Massimo and his team are lovely and had great customer service.
We hope to return soon.
One recommendation would be complimentary group shuttles to the beach as the steps are hard to manage.
The hotel is in the perfect location - incredible views, short walk to beach and town, yet peaceful and quiet. Rooms are maintained to a very high standard. Highly recommend a room with private terrace and sea view - although the hotel terrace can be enjoyed by all guests with equally beautiful vistas. Additionally, the staff are incredibly helpful and cannot do enough to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. Tropea itself has much to offer - a picturesque centro storico, a plethora of places to eat and drink (prices are very reasonable), and an interesting history that we learned about during a very informative walking tour. Lovely place!
