The Lowdown

With awe-inspiring mountain views and magnificent fjord-like formations, Italy’s Lake Garda region proves that bigger sometimes is better. Near the northern end of the lake, you’ll find Active & Family Hotel Gioiosa, the perfect base to explore this natural wonder. Nordic walking, mountain biking and climbing are just some of the activities on the itinerary here – if you can tear yourself away from the hotel’s sparkling pool.
It’s not all about the impressive outdoors here, though. The inviting guest rooms are sleek and contemporary, providing lovely views and all the comforts you could need. If that’s not enough relaxation for you, the luxurious spa is a soothing sanctuary, with international therapies and authentic hammam experiences. Your taste buds will also be taken care of, with the hotel’s restaurant on hand to introduce you to the surrounding area’s traditional Trentino flavors.

The rooms here feature clean, contemporary décor, with light-wood touches that add to the inviting ambiance. Lavanda Standard Double rooms offer beautiful Monte Calino views from the private balcony, while Oleandro Family rooms provide more space, with a sofa bed and a large balcony with panoramic lake views.

Typical Trentino dishes and regional produce keep the focus local in the hotel restaurant. You can enjoy a generous buffet breakfast, afternoon snack or four-course evening meal in the bright and inviting dining room or on the new terrace in the olive garden. Gluten- and lactose-free options are also available, as well as Mediterranean classics and an impressive wine list.

Drawing on centuries of Mediterranean bathing rituals and traditions, the experienced professionals here are ready to ease your body and mind into a more tranquil state. Indulge yourself in a cleansing hammam experience, or choose from a range of massage treatments, including sports, Thai and Ayurvedic styles.

The hotel is located on the outskirts of the town of Riva del Garda, in the north of Italy. Here the Trentino region and its abundance of outdoor activities are at your fingertips, including mountain biking, Nordic walking, climbing and canyoning. The area is full of scenic treasures to discover, such as the lovely Varone waterfall, just a 10-minute walk from your front door. The city center is a 5-minute drive or taxi ride from the hotel, providing an array of lovely restaurants, cafés and shopping.

Wonderful Family hotel you'll don't want to leave!

We've been going back for 2 years now and this hotel is just what we needed. Staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful, the hotel very modern, clean and the rooms are very comfortable and just the right size. (we don't like big hotels). You really feel at home. The children loved the kids club, even though it was in German and they only speak French and English. Kidsclub staff and the other children made the effort to include them by speaking English and they have made great friends. The garden / play area next to the terasse and dining tables makes it possible for the parents to have a relaxing meal whil the children play happily as you can see them. The food is really really nice. Good selection, very fresh. The activities with the partner associations (biking and climbing,...) are great value and the reception staff is very helpful in organizing it for you. I could go on and on, this hotel has so many great features and services besides the fact that it is situated in a beautiful region. Lake Garda has so much to offer. you'll have a very relaxing yet active holiday!

Good hotel for relaxation and for kids

Our family (2 adults and 2 kids ages 7 and 10) stayed at this hotel for one night on our one week vacation around Lake Garda. The positive things: We needed a day, where we didn't have to do anything else but to stay at the hotel and use the hotel facilities, and this hotel was great for that purpose. The fact, that the hotel isn't in walking distance from Riva del Garda, did not bother us - we new that and chose to stay there anyway because of the hotel facilities. We relaxed at the pool, we all played ping pong, mini golf, table football and danced with wii equipment, the kids used the trampoline and used the play yard, while the adults used the spa and took a massage. The personnel was kind and helpful, and the hotel and room was clean. We had chosen to buy the 3/4 board and the "Afternoon snack" was very good ... while the breakfast was not superb but good. The "negative" things: Both the mini golf and the ping pong could be in much better shape. The main language of the hotel seems to be German (in written and in speech). The dinner was below middle good - the theme while we were there was pasta, which in itself could be both tasty and interesting, but it wasn't. You must buy whatever you drink separately - including water - except when you have breakfast - We expected that they would serve water under the meals. The massage (this was an incoming masseur - not a part of the hotel) could have been a lot, lot better, and the spa is ok but does not have much to offer. All in all a very good stay, that lived up to our expectations ... except for the minor minuses mentioned.
