Il Cantico della Natura
What We Love
- A rustic farmhouse stay in the Italian countryside, with breakfast, a bottle of wine and spa accessTreating yourself to a soothing massage in the relaxing wellness center
- Starting the day with a delicious breakfast feast, delivered to your bedroom if you wish
- Indulging with a clear conscience, thanks to the resort’s eco-friendly standards
While the natural beauty and mouth-watering produce of Italy’s Umbria region usually bring to mind picturesque images of rustic farmhouses, it’s not often you can hope to stay in one. However, Il Cantico della Natura offers just that – an eco-resort and organic farm near the beautiful Trasimeno Lake, where you can enjoy an authentic taste of Italy with a clear conscience (and a delightfully full stomach).
The hotel is set in a charming stone house dating back to the 1600s, surrounded by a 400-year-old olive grove and 74 acres of woods and unspoiled nature. As well as being a functioning farm, there’s an array of fantastic facilities for guests, including a restaurant that serves a seasonal menu highlighting the region’s produce. Naturally, you won’t be expected to toil in the fields for your supper – you’ll be far too busy booking massages at the spa or lounging by the pool.
Rooms and suites
Superior rooms range from 190-215 square feet and boast a luxurious and rustic vibe. The individually designed spaces feature artisan furnishings and beautiful wood and stone touches, giving the rooms an inviting, traditional ambience. Go with the Deluxe suite for a sizable upgrade in space, including comfortable dining and seating areas.
Breakfast is an enticing buffet of meats and cheeses, homemade cakes, local biscuits, yogurt, fruit, cereals, bread and jams – you can even request for it to be brought to your room. For other meals, the restaurant serves up delicious regional dishes, and you’ll have your choice of lovely settings, including inside the stone walls of the dining room, surrounded by the hotel’s extensive book collection or outside on the patio, beside the centuries-old olive grove. Homemade cakes and hot and cold drinks are also served in the late afternoon.
The hotel has a small wellness center offering a holistic approach to relaxation. Enjoy the sauna, Jacuzzi and Turkish bath, before indulging in a pampering treatment, such as relaxing massage using essential oils of lemon balm, lavender, chamomile and orange blossom.
The hotel is surrounded by the lush green trees and fields of Umbria, just a few miles from the Tuscan border, in the center of Italy. You’ll enjoy taking in the culture, history and folklore while marveling at the natural beauty around you. The hotel is also easily within reach of major cities, so you’ll have a choice of day-trips available to you.Perugia, the Umbrian capital, is a 30-minute drive away and home to historic churches, a medieval fountain and a Renaissance-era fortress. Like many Italian cities, Perugia has a rich relationship with art, and the Galleria Nazionale dell’Umbria is home to more to more than a few masterpieces worth viewing. You’ll also find plenty of lovely restaurants and quaint cafés to explore.
How to Get There
Got a poor room away from everything - looking at a childrens playground (not want I want to find a place like this. Not much choice in restaurant. three nights and I had tried it all...
Never tried the spa as it was occupied when I asked..
For 5 years I longed for staying in this hotel as I had seen it in a Facebook ad. I must admit that it met all my expectations.
The first thing to praise is the staff's availability and cordiality. Due to an unexpected reason we were not able to rent a car, however we reached the nearest town via train and Maurizio offered to pick us up. This is not something included in their services and in he did it most willingly.
As there was another couple checking in we were invited to the dining room (which makes you travel 300 years back in time) for some sweets and coffee.
The room (Libra - "Romanticissimo sotto le Stelle") was just amazing. The round bed was super comfortable and the views from it simply breathtaking. The shower and the huge roman-style tub are just great.
All the agriturism is full with beautiful flowers and lavenders.Even in the pool zone you can feel the quite and calm. During summer they would offer sweats, cakes and coffee by the pool which we highly enjoyed.
We had some friends with their children visiting us and the staff right away told us they could bring their swimsuits and enjoy the pool as well. We had other plans but we appreciated them offering this possibility.
Me and my wife were extremely happy of staying in this place and we can't wait to come back for a longer stay.
A tutto lo staff i miei complimenti! Continuate così!
Il Cantico is a fabulous Agriturismo where we stayed for 6 nights. We loved the location high on the hill, the swirls of butterflies on the huge lavenders, the pool overlooking the rolling countryside, the authentic feel to the rooms so full of character, and the wonderfully relaxed atmosphere coupled with great service.
Breakfast is a veritable feast of meats, cheese, yoghurts, bread, pastries, home made cakes, and much more with home made jams and honey on the comb. Dinner al fresco is superbly presented delicious Italian food. I had a 1:1 cooking class with Andrea (with Enzo translating) and marveled how he produced such great food from such a tiny kitchen.
Maurizio & Sara deserve a mention as nothing was too much trouble. We loved our time at Il Cantico and it’s a perfect base for exploring Umbria when not relaxing by the pool. (Use the address: via Collesseco 06063 Montesperello Magione as it’s not easy to find. And expect a track not a road as you climb the hill. You may even see tiny wild boar piglets driving back late at night!)
