Simplicity in the extreme

The hotel is clean, so it has that going for it. It felt more like living in a very spartan college dorm room than being in a hotel. It has the basics and only the basics. I get it since this is a converted monastery, but I wasn’t ready for quite so much austerity. The grounds are quite lovely and the staff is very accommodating.

Disappointing Experience

We had a lovely room with a great view of Assisi - it was a spacious junior suite. It was clean and had sleek, modern decor. The service, however, was reprehensible. Our room was not ready when we check into the hotel so we left our bags. When we came back, the receptionist gave us the key to our room. She did not mention the bags. We had to ask and learned that no one had bothered to put them in our room. She then pointed to the room where they were and told us to retrieve them ourselves. The worst part of the situation was that the room was quite warm and the windows opened about an inch. When we complained, the answer was simply that we do not turn on the air conditioning until May 1. (It was about six days before May 1 and the temperature was around 70-80 Fahrenheit). We continued to complain and they said they would look into it. They never did and ignored us whenever we pressed the issue. We finally got frustrated because the forecast for the next day was in the mid to high 80s. We knew that the room would be completely unbearable so we told them that we were going to check out the next morning. They had the complete audacity to tell us that they were going to charge us for the rest of our stay - two full nights. When we protested repeatedly, the manager finally lamented. It should be noted that we had a regular reservation that we made through the hotel. We did not have a package or prepaid discounted rate. The hotel never even suggested another room in a shadier spot with windows that opened more. We knew of other rooms in the hotel that had different windows that actually opened fully. In addition, the breakfast was disappointing. The coffee tasted terrible. It was salty. How do you ruin coffee in Italy? I would stay far away from this hotel. The good news is that two hotels have opened up very recently and are exceptionally more hospitable. We move to Il Roseto Country House at which the air conditioning was fully functional in the room and the breakfast was fabulous.

When I read a review this hotel was functional I was worried. What I found instead is a very nice hotel. It was clean and comfortable. My one complaint was the WiFi was not adequate. The restaurant did a great job serving dinner and breakfast to our tour group

On my trip with Trafalgar this was one of the better hotels chosen by them. It was clean withe very modern and comfortable rooms. I would stay in this hotel again if I ever go back to Assisi. Friendly staff and good food (included with the tour).

This was a fabulous hotel. Outstanding service by the staff. Pascia was the bartender and server!!! Wow. He does customer service RIGHT. GOLD MEDAL for him!!!
It was very clean, very roomy and modern hotel.
The breakfast and evening meals need a lot of work. Poor quality.
