A four-star hotel housed in an 18th-century palace, with breathtaking views across the Bay of Naples

The Lowdown

Set in a beautiful expanse of private parkland dotted with fragrant flowers and orange trees, La Medusa offers the perfect tranquil getaway, close to the stunning landscapes and towns of the Amalfi Coast. Decorated in a palatial style, with exquisite ceramics, rich tapestries and luxurious antique furniture, the hotel’s interiors are sure to impress. If that’s not enough for you, though, take a look outside and you’ll be greeted with stunning panoramic views over the Bay of Naples.
The gardens of La Medusa are just as beautiful, adorned with classical sculptures, chaise longues and shaded gazebos. You’ll also find an outdoor swimming pool with hydrotherapy jets, as well as a fitness center with technogym and massage facilities. Further out, the beautiful town of Castellammare di Stabia is accessible via a complimentary shuttle bus service, and there are guided tours available to Vesuvius, Naples and the ancient city of Pompeii.

Traditional rooms are furnished in an elegant style, blending classical opulence and contemporary minimalism with comfortable furnishings and hand-painted tile floors. Each room boasts partial sea views, plus an en-suite bathroom with a bathtub or shower.

The restaurant, which features a beautiful outdoor terrace overlooking the gardens, serves delicious regional and international cuisine from an exquisite à la carte menu. The food is prepared from the finest local ingredients and is accompanied by an extensive Italian wine list.

The hotel’s serene spa, Eden, boasts a Finnish sauna, a steam bath with essences, a hydrotherapy pool and plenty more facilities to help you unwind. Here, you’ll be able to enjoy soothing massages and a lovely array of beauty and wellness treatments.

The hotel is located in the gorgeous seaside commune of Castellammare di Stabia, just minutes from the ancient city of Pompeii. The city’s perfectly maintained streets, houses, baths and theaters can be explored with one of the hotel’s tour guides, or you can hop on the complimentary shuttle service to discover the cobbled piazzas, charming churches and lovely local restaurants on your own. If you’re up for it, we highly recommend making the trek to the crater of Vesuvius, from which you’ll take in truly spectacular views of the Bay of Naples and the surrounding region.

Pure heaven!

We booked only 1 night here on our way to Amalfi coast and immediately wished we stayed longer. The property is out of this world - gorgeous public areas, spacious rooms, attention to details, art deco and roman decor, beautiful pool and spa and unbelievable gardens... lady that checked us in was super kind and helpful, bartender helped us with wine choices and was really kind and the breakfast staff was also excellent! Everything was so polished and superb, even though it was well off season and we were really impressed. I would love to come back!

Very good hotel in a bad area

If you don't have your own transport it is not easy to get to this hotel. We took the airport shuttle to Castellammare but then couldn't find a taxi to the hotel. In the end we had to "bribe" a local to take us there. The hotel offers a pick up but not from this station.
The hotel is very nice and our room was excellent. There is a swimming pool in beautiful gardens but as we went there in December we were not able to take advantage of them.
The dining room was closed except for breakfast so we had to go out for our meals.Fortunately there is an excellent restaurant "Villa Marylu" which is just a 5 minute walk away.If you don't have your own transport there is nothing else nearby.
The road is narrow and there is no pavement so you cannot safely go out for a walk.
You need to take taxis to go to and from the hotel.
The area surrounding the hotel is horrible. So , unless you have your own car or you intend staying in the gardens by the pool I would not recommend this hotel.

Elegant and relaxing

A beautiful hotel about 30 minutes drive from Naples airport - an experience in itself! It’s about a 15 minute drive to Pompeii. Extremely professional staff and we had a lovely room at the front of the hotel . As we visited out of season the restaurant was not open which was a shame (we did know this) but breakfast overlooking the Bay of Naples was stunning. We would certainly consider returning in the Summer to take advantage of the pool !

Understated elegance and caring sophistication

Our stay from beginning to end has been utterly superb. The staff are wonderful and do their utmost to look after you. Attentive yet discrete, friendly yet courteous. Everything oozes luxury but at the same time comfort and a feeling of being at ease. The evening meals were fantastic- amazing setting, ambiance, flavour and presentation-
so gorgeous. The breakfast was pure Italian delight (I would have liked oats but that is a minor grumble) superb coffee pin silver pots together with a rooftop view of Vesuvius! I loved the gym and had it to myself! I would say that the equipment was in need of maintenance though. The pool is beautiful but was very cold- if it could be heated that would have been the icing on the cake. The gardens are stunning. A secret maze of citrus trees and secluded seating. Just magical and all lit up at night! Our rooms were amazing. Loved the jacuzzi bath and the balcony with views in equal measure! We were celebrating some milestone birthdays and feel totally pampered and thoroughly spoiled! Thank you so so much. We will never forget our stay here!

Fantastic holiday base

A real gem. Very friendly staff and a well appointed hotel. Beautiful gardens and outdoor pool. Bedroom spacious, good views and very comfortable. Rooms and general areas very clean. Hotel food of a very good standard but more affordable restaurants nearby if required. Excellent support for tourists from the reception and complementary shuttle to train station in the town available three times in the morning. Once back after a days exploring all you needed was to phone the hotel who would send a taxi to collect you at €10. Two extremely good Roman Villas within walking distance from hotel well worth a visit.
