If that’s not enough for you, though, take a look outside and you’ll be greeted with stunning panoramic views over the Bay of Naples.
The gardens of La Medusa are just as beautiful, adorned with classical sculptures, chaise longues and shaded gazebos. You’ll also find an outdoor swimming pool with hydrotherapy jets, as well as a fitness center with technogym and massage facilities. Further out, the beautiful town of Castellammare di Stabia is accessible via a complimentary shuttle bus service, and there are guided tours available to Vesuvius, Naples and the ancient city of Pompeii.
Traditional rooms are furnished in an elegant style, blending classical opulence and contemporary minimalism with comfortable furnishings and hand-painted tile floors. Each room boasts partial sea views, plus an en-suite bathroom with a bathtub or shower.
The restaurant, which features a beautiful outdoor terrace overlooking the gardens, serves delicious regional and international cuisine from an exquisite à la carte menu. The food is prepared from the finest local ingredients and is accompanied by an extensive Italian wine list.
The hotel’s serene spa, Eden, boasts a Finnish sauna, a steam bath with essences, a hydrotherapy pool and plenty more facilities to help you unwind. Here, you’ll be able to enjoy soothing massages and a lovely array of beauty and wellness treatments.
The hotel is located in the gorgeous seaside commune of Castellammare di Stabia, just minutes from the ancient city of Pompeii. The city’s perfectly maintained streets, houses, baths and theaters can be explored with one of the hotel’s tour guides, or you can hop on the complimentary shuttle service to discover the cobbled piazzas, charming churches and lovely local restaurants on your own. If you’re up for it, we highly recommend making the trek to the crater of Vesuvius, from which you’ll take in truly spectacular views of the Bay of Naples and the surrounding region.
How to Get There
Beautiful hotel, in stunning gardens/parkland, beautiful pool and spa area, pool towels provided, padded sun loungers.
Large Italian breakfast selection extensive array of choices. Outdoor roof top breakfast dining with stunning Mount Vesuvius and Bay of Naples as your vista
Staff all very accommodating and very friendly.
Lunchtime menu pizzas, salads & club sandwich’s reasonably priced. Evening menu fine dining which is excellent quality, during our 5 night stay we didn’t feel we wanted to eat like that each night and only limited bar snacks as options in cocktail bar.
Lovely oasis of high quality, comfort and relaxation.
We would definitely make a return trip.
As the title implies, we had such a wonderful stay at this facility and I wish anybody reads this to book the place. I promise bno regret. For travelers in the Amalfi to Sorrento trip, It is in the middle and very comfortable to have a star style trip. the hotel itself is such a high class and for us it is unforgettable and shouldn't be skipped for whom is in the area.
I can’t praise this hotel enough.. stunning views, sumptuous food and sublime service..really perfect venue for a couples retreat. 5 star hotel at reasonable prices. The place is spotless and the grounds are beautifully kept.
Great rooms, great garden and great staff. Front of house Silvano deserves 5 gold stars and a halo ! Indeed, all staff were so nice. Helpful yet discreet.
Gardens are a credit to the hotel. Carefully tended and tastefully laid out.
Just recently stayed here at La Medusa for 5 nights and 6 days with my girlfriend just checked-out last Saturday 8th June and what a wonderful time we had now it’s only fair I write a full extensive account of our stay. We booked based on reading few reviews here on TA and mainly because it’s within close proximity to the places we wanted to visit and we’re very glad we booked.
Firstly the settings, the views and the ambience are exactly as the photos shown here ...if not better!
We had booked an airport shuttle service and on arrival at La Medusa we were greeted by Silvano who very nicely walked us in over to the reception and then took us to our room. We arrived around 10ish and had a choice between two rooms as the hotel was fully booked. We chose room 112, first floor with a lovely balcony. The other was with a view of Vesuvius but no balcony. The room had a luxurious feel consistent with the exterior of the hotel. Very importantly it’s clean, had a very comfy bed, thick cotton towels, whilst the bathroom had a rain shower head with good water pressure. The grounds are impressive and well maintained which explains why this is a perfect setting for a wedding reception.
In terms of location there is a small shop 2mins up the road for fresh fruit, water and small necessities. We tried to visit the restaurant across the street once but was closed unfortunately. As with many places we found opening times were a lot later that what we’re used to so bare this in mind.
We had lunch once at the back of the hotel. It’s something to try, the experience was superb and very enjoyable. We sat outside overseeing the garden which at that time there was a weeding reception taking place which just added to the atmosphere. We had a pasta dish, a sandwich, two coffees, a bottle of water and a tiramisu came up to roughly 50 euros. We also dinned in for one late evening where we ate on the 5th floor. Two main dishes a bottle of wine and two deserts which were all lovely by the way, totalled to 90 euros. All was very nice and very filling. Breakfast every morning was also in the upstairs restaurant. Plenty choices to begin your day with and even better to have in the early sun with a crisp morning view of Mount Vesuvius in the distance.
As pointed out in the other reviews here the staff and grounds team are a true credit to the success of this establishment. One thing that’s apparent is the consistent passion that they share in things they do, from Rhoda and Giovanna at the front desk to Giovanni at the restaurant and the breakfast staff that do an amazing job every day. As for Silvano, who if you’re staying at this place would be impossible for you to miss. He is more than just the hotel chauffeur he is the face of the hotel, the first to greet you as you arrive and the one to see you off. Not only is he informative and friendly, but Silvano shows an attitude that he will go above and beyond to see you have a great time and in our opinion should be your best friend whilst your here needless to say I’m sure the hotel already knows that he is an asset to La Medusa. One day we experienced a train strike which interrupted our plans. So he helped us reschedule our plans to the Amalfi coast and helped us with suggestions in getting to Ravello. We noticed that if some hotel guest stayed out late on their tours he would work later to see they get collected before clocking off. Even his restaurant recommendations were perfect.
In the 5 nights we were there we managed to visit both ancient sites Pompeii and Herculaneum. A full day in Naples with open top bus and the same with Sorrento. A day tour along the Amalfi coast stopping in Positano, Amalfi and Ravello and an hour boat cruise. All in all a productive trip and a great stay. If I could find any down points if there were any it would be that one evening when we had tea in our room we found that the maid didn’t wash the cups or replace them as my girlfriends lipstick was still on the mugs from the previous nights cuppa. It’s a problem but a small imperfection we could fix buy washing it ourselves. Also dining in is expensive no doubt and that getting to the station outside of the hotel designated shuttle times would cost you 10 euros each way if you weren’t driving. But really, you’re on holiday so these things are again minor in comparison to the positives you’ll receive. If your on the fence and thinking of booking, do it you’ll love it. Enjoy! Thumbs up!
