Classic hotel in the heart of Sorrento, with gardens scented by lemon trees and four restaurants

The Lowdown

More traditional than trend-setting, this 85-room hotel in the heart of Sorrento offers a haven from the buzz of the city, whether you’re chilling by the rooftop pool or sipping espresso in the leafy garden terrace planted with lemon and orange trees. Some rooms feature balconies, frescos, 18th century tiles and marble bathrooms, while the restaurants – including O’ Parrucchiano, a short stroll from the hotel – dish up traditional Sorrentine dishes like the rolled pasta classic cannelloni (originally called “Strascinati”.) Gather with other guests for sunset cocktails on the roof terrace, which overlooks Mount Vesuvius and the Bay of Naples.

In the Area

Start at the Chiesa di San Francesco (Church of St. Francis), where you can stroll past bougainvillea-clad walls to the Arabic portico and arches of the cloisters. There are also concerts in summer and regular art exhibitions: contact the tourist office for tickets and information. Cook up a storm of Sorrentine specialties at Tofani cooking school, where you can learn to whip up pasta, ragu and fish dishes like mama used to make. For spectacular views of this iconic coastline, trek some of the 150 miles of trails along the Sorrento and Amalfi coast with a variety of guided hikes.

Beautiful but

This relatively new addition to the 5 star hotels of Sorrento is stunningly beautiful. Our room replete with gorgeous tiled floors was the most comfortable of our trip with such modern conveniences as wonderful lighting, USB ports at the desk and bedstead. The hotel is not directly on the cliff overlooking the port but is in town so a short walk can take you everywhere including the public garden where the lift to the port below is easily found. The breakfast buffet was everything one expects in a luxury Italian hotel with very attentive wait staff. So why the 4 not 5? There seems to be no knowledgeable concierge on staff or working the week we were there. There was a small confusion with our private Pompei tour quickly managed but the front desk could not provide detailed information on restaurants seeking the kind of place that fits for different guests. When asked to book a Capri tour we were told it was easier to do ourselves, a curious response. At the end of the day this is a beautiful, comfortable well sited hotel but could have been rated 5 + with better concierge service.

Wonderful hotel!

Favorita is in a perfect location. It’s walking distance to everything. The room was beautiful and comfortable with a large bathroom. The rooftop bar has a wonderful view of Naples Bay. The concierge set up transportation and tours that were professional with very nice drivers. We enjoyed eating the delicious breakfast underneath the lemon trees in the garden. Highly recommend!

Very nice staff, room, and breakfast!

This was a fantastic hotel in a great location. Room was large and comfortable. Staff was amazing and incredibly helpful, giving us recommendations and directions to anything we needed. Would definitely stay here again.
