More traditional than trend-setting, this 85-room hotel in the heart of Sorrento offers a haven from the buzz of the city, whether you’re chilling by the rooftop pool or sipping espresso in the leafy garden terrace planted with lemon and orange trees. Some rooms feature balconies, frescos, 18th century tiles and marble bathrooms, while the restaurants – including O’ Parrucchiano, a short stroll from the hotel – dish up traditional Sorrentine dishes like the rolled pasta classic cannelloni (originally called “Strascinati”.) Gather with other guests for sunset cocktails on the roof terrace, which overlooks Mount Vesuvius and the Bay of Naples.
In the Area
Start at the Chiesa di San Francesco (Church of St. Francis), where you can stroll past bougainvillea-clad walls to the Arabic portico and arches of the cloisters. There are also concerts in summer and regular art exhibitions: contact the tourist office for tickets and information. Cook up a storm of Sorrentine specialties at Tofani cooking school, where you can learn to whip up pasta, ragu and fish dishes like mama used to make. For spectacular views of this iconic coastline, trek some of the 150 miles of trails along the Sorrento and Amalfi coast with a variety of guided hikes.
How to Get There
Currently staying at the hotel for seven nights with my husband. Rooms are elegant with clear cultural influences including majolica tiles and frescoes on the ceilings. A pillow menu is available and complimentary still and sparking water and chocolates are provided at evening turndown service.
Our room 214 overlooks the garden with lemon and orange trees which are lit up on an evening. The hotel provided complimentary prosecco and pastries on check in, a nice touch, as well as a discount card for their partner restaurant and a drink voucher for the bar.
The rooftop pool, bar and terrace overlooks the bay and provides an oasis away from the hustle and bustle. The first floor piano bar offers some great cocktails and an impressive collection of beautiful local ceramics.
Breakfast menu is extensive including and egg chef and the coffee is excellent. What makes this five stars for me is the level of service from staff who are courteous, friendly and go out of their way to make your stay.
Minor point no coffee making facilities in room and the noise proofing is not great due to the tiles, but I always travel with ear plugs.
Stayed last week at La Favorita. An excellent hotel right in the centre of the town. Booking in was speedy, and we were quickly shown to our room with a short explanation of the layout of the hotel. We were met at breakfast by Luigi who like all the staff was pleasant and helpful. We ate at the hotel in the evening twice once in the restaurant and once outside. Both times the food was lovely. The hotel is kept spotlessly clean and the gardens though small are delightful. The swimming pool area on the roof is amazing with views across the town and out to sea. A very comfortable stay already looking forward to our next visit there. Thank you for a great holiday
Just totally amazing. Location spot on and their restaurant a few blocks away is also wonderful. Breakfast, staff, room...it doesn’t matter it was all superb. Thank you helping me fall in love with sorrento!
This Hotel is the best We have been to. If I could give it 10 stars I would. The room with balcony, the restaurant, the staff , the location in Sorrento was fabulous. It is not often you come away from staying abroad that you want to go straight back. But that was the case here. From Guiseppe the taxi driver, Guinluca and Valentina on reception, Luigi in the restaurant, the concierges, Anna and her cleaning maids, absolutely fabulous. The restaurants, so many close by, the magnificent terrace with swimming pool on the roof with those views. Wonderful.
Great staff and food , lots of attention to detail and immaculately clean, the owners also had a restaurant called paraquiano which is began in family a 150 years ago and where cannelloni was invented , great history and food.
