How to Get There
The hotel has a roof terrace restaurant with a spectacular view on the city and the harbor. Food was very nice especially the pasta. At lunch we were the only guests there and were served by 5-6 waiters that was a bit too formal.
We had a room at th back of the hotel, not overlooking the harbor as requested, but we did book at the last minute..
The room was HUGE with very high ceilings, walls lined with padded material that matched the grand curtains. The bed was enormous and very comfortable with quality linen sheets. Everywhere was spotless.
There is a rooftop bar that overlooked the habour, but watch out prices are staggeringly high,. £25 for a brandy. There is a swimming pool free for guests that looked great but we didn't have time to use it. Mini bar in the room but again prices are high, a can of beer was £10, coca-cola £6. We didn't eat in the hotel as you have to book and we were too late. Don't need to go far as just across the road by the harbor and castle are some excelent retardants specializing in very fresh (some still alive) sea food and the atmosphere is fantastic. Prices are resnable for good quality food. But it dose get very busy.
Some of the staff at the hotel are a little snooty but others were helpful, recommending local restaurants and booking tables.
The buffet breakfast was one of the best I have ever had. Quality food and the first hotel I have visited to cook scrambled eggs to perfection.
Perhaps this hotel is too grand but there was no tea making facilities in the room. I do like a cuppa in bed first thing in the morning. Also I would have liked an iron in the room as we were touring our cloths had become very creased. It was £10 to launder a shirt.
The hotel was wonderful, old world luxury. I would definatly stay in this hotel again as it was a pleasure but we don't want to visit Naples again.
I stayed here for 8 nights and the hotel is fabulous in most ways.
- The hotel staff are very helpful and friendly. They are not the superficial over the top friendly, but all of their recommendations were spot on. They were also very responsive to any issues in the room.
- The breakfast area is fantastic — it overlooks the ocean and the views of Mount Vesuvius are fabulous. The breakfast service is also very cultured and refined. What is not immediately obvious is that you can order eggs, omelettes, etc. on demand if you want to have something different from the breakfast offerings. This took us a few days to figure out.
- They also have a wonderful rooftop bar with really amazing panoramic views. The cocktails are expensive though 20 € each.
- The bathroom was a bit tight especially the shower area, which felt that you were in a tube with limited movement. The water temperature also fluctuated wildly.
Other than that, outstanding.
Prestigious grand hotel located right at the seafront with a view on the bay, Capri and Vesuv. Order Bellini drinks on the 10th floor terrace bar. Had a good sleep, a cool shower and lovely breakfast. Tutto bene!
A rare holiday spoiled by an inferior, cold, grubby room and poor service in the dining room. After complaining, upgraded to a slightly better room but still not good value for money. Breakfast - poor choice so requested eggs from the staff in the dining room. They had to be chased up after a 20 minute wait, to make it happen!
Overall a grand hotel in desperate need of good management and investment.
