How to Get There
We had a great stay, the hotel is lovely and the rooms are very large. We visited off season and the staff were kind to provide us a free upgrade. The breakfast is free and has many options. The hotel is in the middle of everything and across the street from the beach. The only compliant I have is that when asked about parking we were told you could either park on the street for 8 euro or their garage for 15euro. We opted for the street, paid and parked - what the staff neglected to tell us (and no signs were posted) was that it was street cleaning day. So when we woke up the next day we had a ticket. All in all it was a great stay, very nice rooms, happy staff and a great location. We would stay again.
This hotel was last minute for us as the original farm house we booked decided to close early for the season, so our idealic Tuscany Farmhouse holiday changed the day before we were due to fly. When we arrived I will admit I was disappointed. The Astor is on a very busy main road, however, if you cross that road you will find more restaurants and bars along the strip than you need and most serve some excellent Italian cuisine. Beyond the bars and restaurants you will find the longest sandiest gorgeous beach. So if you want the beach, bars and restaurants within walking distance, this is the hotel for you. They have a fantastic indoor swimming pool, hot tub, sauna and steam room all included in the price, and towels are also provided. Spa treatments are extra. The Astro also offers 3 hours free bike hire included then €5 per hour after that, however, we couldn’t find a bike that was even near road worthy, so we didn’t bother. Breakfast is very continental with a gesture of frankfurters with scrambled and boiled eggs for us Brits, but it’s all very nicely displayed and absolutely fine. Rooms are clean and clean towels are provided every day along with room service. Safe in room. Hairdryer in bathroom not good, take yr own. And you will also need a 3 pin German adapter for your electrical appliances, the normal 2 pin European adapters don’t work. Ok, so this is the bad bit - we had car hire included with our holiday and the Hotel has a garage. They wanted €28 per day to park the car 😳 we found out there are blue parking bays all along the resort and you can buy a ticket from the newsagent opposite the hotel for €8 per day and park in any blue bay. Make sure you buy the next days ticket the day before as the ticket runs out at midnight. Enjoy
Bright, clean hotel. Rooms were spotless with great views at the front of the hotel. We were B&B only and breakfast was good but would have liked better fruit choice and as others have said queuing at coffee/ teamachine bit of a pain although waiter service is available. Viareggio in September is definitely recommended - beach and restaurants not too busy and easy access via train to Lucca and Pisa.
Spent a lovely week at Sina Astor room nice and clean, breakfast wide choice only problem was queuing for a coffee the pool and sauna was fantastic the staff were very helpful the best thing I can say is I would go again.
We spent the last two days of our holiday at the Sina Astor, having transferred from a disastrous 6 night stay at another Viareggio Hotel. We felt as though we had arrived back into civilisation- the hotel is extremely clean, cool ( vital in the recent heat) with very helpful staff at reception- especially Milena, who understanding our ghastly experience at the other hotel, made it her business to ensure our comfort. Complimentary towels for the beach each day, free bike hire, rooms cleaned twice daily and an extremely generous breakfast buffet made the end of our holiday a sweet one. We will certainly return to the Astor again.
