How to Get There
We were greeted by a very pleasant lady who was welcoming. Sadly we found in the room that the furniture was old and damaged as was the carpet just like the stair carpet which is worn through in many areas on the steps. We then caught a bus to get some lunch when we discussed the hotel and room.
My wife and I agreed it was certainly nothing like the pictures shown, we have 42 pictures available.
Once back we took a closer look at the room and found that it was in a very poor condition compared to what it purported to be. It left us with no choice but to find somewhere (it was cup final day so it took some time) else to stay as we had lost all confidence in the Hotel. We did say goodbye and gave our reasons for doing so to the staff member who offered to call the owner but as they were not at the hotel I did not want to wait any longer as I simply wanted to get my wife out of there. We did email the owner but have not had a reply at this time of writing.
A four star hotel should offer an environment and facilities proportionate with 4 stars, which the Aberdeen Lodge Hotel does not. We also now took time once at a different Hotel to read more of the reviews, good and bad and I can say that apart from the staff comments (not the owners, who were not present) as the staff (Fran) were very pleasant though the poor reviews we wholeheartedly agree with.
We would not rate this place any greater than a 2 star B&B.
My wife and I stayed at Aberdeen Lodge for 3 nights while visiting Dublin meeting friends and attending the GAA final. We could not have asked for a better experience, the staff at Aberdeen Lodge welcomed and treated us like family for the entire weekend.
We had a beautiful well equipped room which overlooked the well manicured garden, the surrounding area was really tranquil and we had a great sleep on the very comfy bed.
Breakfast was amazing. We really enjoyed the full Irish breakfast, complete with homemade brown bread and proper Irish tea.
We'll be back to stay in Aberdeen Lodge whenever we get the chance to visit Dublin again!!
We stayed in Aberdeen after an early morning flight in from the US which had been delayed. We arrived grumpy, hungry and exhausted. We received a warm welcome and was shown to our room which we did not expect to be ready as it was 8:30am and a last minute booking. The room was so charming and the bed was so comfortable. The room over looked a beautiful garden. Lucky for us we arrived during breakfast. All I can say is WOW it was by far the best breakfast I've ever had and we travel extensively. The staff could not do enough for us. We tend to take a bit of time to wind down after long haul flights, so after breakfast we went out to explore the garden. The most charming dog you've ever met entertained us while we finished our tea staff had do kindly taken outside for us. We retired to bed it was so comfortable. After a few hours we decided to get out and go for a walk. The staff suggested a nice route that went by the beach and into the village. It did the trick. I can't say enough about Aberdeen Lodge, the staff go above and beyond to make you feel at home. The breakfast was amazing, I have never seen such a beautiful buffet and our cooked breakfast was delicious. Our room was so comfortable and the rear garden view with it charming dog was beautiful. The drawing room was very relaxing would loved to have more time in it We were always greeted by staff coming and going which I thought was a lovely touch. I am only sorry we didn't get to spend more time there it truly lives up to it reputation for friendliness and relaxation. I will definitely visit again soon.
