How to Get There
We enjoyed an excellent stay for six nights in Aberdeen Lodge. We really enjoyed the clean and spacious room. After returning each evening we were always offered good quality coffee in the comfort of the sitting room with its welcoming fire. Breakfast choice and quality was outstanding. Friendly and helpful staff. Very close to bus stop with easy access to central Dublin.
If we ever return to Dublin we will certainly try to stay at the beautiful Aberdeen Lodge again. It's a lovely Edwardian building in a quiet neighborhood... not close to Dublin city center, but just a short walk from a tram stop, so it's surprisingly convenient. I loved the four-poster bed in our room, the pretty old house, and the lovely spread they put on every morning for breakfast. Really a nice place.
We had a lovely weekend staying at Aberdeen lodge in Sandymount. The lodge is on a really nice leafy street with amazing houses, only a 10 min walk from the seafront too. The dart station is an 8min walk and it’s so easy to get straight into the centre of Dublin.
When we arrived we were given a really welcome pot of tea and lovely peanut butter biscuits, the owner gave us some guidance on the area and getting about. He recommended a few things to do and see, aswell as some nice places locally to eat and drink. We went to Mulligans a really cool pub in Sandymount on our first day for a drink, the food looked good but we didn’t eat as we had a table booked. Sandymount is a lovely village with lots of eateries and shops.
We ate at FX Buckley in temple bar, an amazing steak restaurant. Quite pricey but it was our anniversary so it was a treat. I lost count of the pubs we drank in but they were all so cool and with a great atmosphere. Always some live music playing, the Merchant Arms was one of the best.
Our room at the lodge was big and overlooking the garden, the bed was massive although a bit firm for my liking. Decor was maybe a bit dated as it’s quite an old building, but it gave it charm and warmth and felt homely. The staff are very friendly and always helpful if you needed them. Breakfast was very good, plenty to eat and a nice selection.
Overall I would recommend a stay at Aberdeen Lodge if you want to be out of the hustle and bustle of Dublin City centre, a great location for tourists and being close to the seafront for a nice walk that ends near the pub in Sandymount for a nice pint of Guinness.
Our November 2018 stay at the Aberdeen Lodge offered a chance to unwind in comfortable surroundings. As soon as my two sisters, two adult nieces, and I arrived at the Aberdeen, we were welcomed in the drawing room with hot tea and homemade cookies. Pat and Anne, our hosts, made certain our stay would be a pleasant one.
We followed their recommendations for local travel and dining and we were not disappointed. Each morning a plentiful and varied menu of delicious breakfast options is served in the dining room overlooking an enclosed garden area. The waterfront is within a short walk from the inn. The location is quiet yet central to all Dublin has to offer. For anyone reading who is familiar with Boston, Massachusetts, this neighborhood is similar to Brookline in architecture and proximity to the city.
From the moment we arrive Pat was so friendly and helpful. Got our room ready many hours earlier due to our unexpected early arrival and provided lots of details and information about travel and the local area. Breakfast was brilliant- something new every day. All staff were so helpful and friendly.
