Dublin weekend
Reviewed 1 week ago

A warm welcome was forthcoming, my suitcase whisked to my room whilst I had tea in the sitting room. Spotlessly clean, comfortable bed, nothing too much trouble gorgeous breakfast and would book again if we return

Great stay at Aberdeen Lodge

We arrived on Saturday afternoon in November 2018 to a warm welcome from Pat the owner and staff. Tea was waiting for us in this very clean and welcoming B& B. We stayed two weekends and traveled to Cork during the week. We came back the following weekend realizing that my husband had left his wedding ring on the side table of his bed. Pat handed it to us the moment we walked in. Breakfast is incredible with many choices.

The location is perfect, 10 minute bus ride to central Dublin, 10 minute walk into Sandy Mounts lovely village, 1 minute walk to the bus, 5 minute walk to the beach and train station. Perfect location to rest, walk, enjoy! Thank you Pat, family and staff!

Wonderful home away from home

Ann and Pat were so pleasant and accommodating. The house is a beautiful Victorian (1870’s) on a tree lined street in an affluent neighborhood. Neighbors out walking, riding bikes, pushing strollers. It is immaculately clean, has some “lived in” blemishes that make it feel just like home. The imperfections make it perfect. We had a king size bed that was very comfortable with nice pillows. The bathrooms are a bit dated but again that’s part of the houses charm. Breakfast is superb. Lots of variety of fresh fruit, yogurt, nuts, breads, juices, coffee, tea. Ann prepares the hot food you’d like...eggs, toast, pancakes, bacon, sausage, traditional Irish fare as well. The Dart (train) is a short walk away to go to the city or to Dalkey for a beautiful coastal walk. The bus is one block away. The Village square is a short walk and has a nice pub called Mulligans (Ian was a great waiter). The square has a small grocer, pharmacy, coffee shop and a park. Everything you need is close by. Taxi ride from the airport was about 20 mins and cost 30 euros (4 was from the toll thru the tunnel which you can ask driver to avoid but will lengthen trip a bit). HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Charming hotel, quick trip to City Center

I stayed here for a long weekend on my first trip to Dublin, and I'm so glad I found this place! It has a very old world feel, with excellent hospitality. We arrived really early on a Firday and were able to check in even though it was only 10am or so. The owner was very kind and the service was great - no matter what time we came home, they were always willing to send tea up to our room. The neighborhood is lovely, very green and a close walk to the shore. The little village that's a short walk away has some great little bars and restaurants. I loved being able to spend the day in Center City Dublin and then come back to the quiet vibe of the Aberdeen Lodge. Overall, a great place to stay.

Excellent B&B outside of Dublin centre

Aberdeen lodge is a go-to place if you want to be away from the business of the city, want to be on walking distance to the sea and still be only a half hour away from Dublin Centre by DART.

The staff will make you feel right at home with a tea and biscuit, the lady of the house will explain everything thoroughly, the immediate surroundings, how to get to the DART, local shops and Restaurants, and the beach.
The neighbourhood is safe and quiet.

The breakfast is the crown jewel of this place, there is a wide variety of both cold and hot meals, all very well prepared and presented.

Rooms are spacious, clean and have an excellent bed.
The plumbing can be a bit noisy, be ready to hear your upstairs neighbor flush the toilet or take a shower, but, these things should be expected, it’s a large house, not a hotel as such.

WiFi can be a bit spotty and could use an upgrade to stronger routers, these days people bring their tablets and telephones into the room expecting to be able to stream Netflix and what have you, that’s not really possible here (when writing this review).
So ... bring a book or a usb stick with your movies on them.

All in all, this is a great, not perfect, place, It being not perfect is part of the charm.

Can warmly recommend.
