We stayed in Stassi at Castello di Vicarello, and could not say enough about the experience. The staff was exceptionally attentive and accommodating, and the setting is one of the most beautiful we've seen in our travels. Unfortunately my wife was feeling a bit ill during our stay so we could not take advantage of the full slate of activities that the resort had to offer, but the staff went above and beyond to help make us comfortable in her under-the-weather-away-from-home state. If you're looking for a lovely place to spend a few days in Tuscany, you absolutely could not go wrong with Castello di Vicarello.
We loved our stay at Castello di Vicarello. It is certainly a pricey boutique hotel and it was a splurge for us - but we found it entirely worth it. We loved the peace and quiet and the feeling that we had our own castle to ourselves (despite the fact that there were 6 or so other couples there!). The pools were lovely, and we spent lots of time looking out at the hills and reading and relaxing.
The service was very good - we thought Veronica (#2) was absolutely fantastic - so welcoming and warm - and we loved the head waiter (can’t remember his name!) as well - he was funny and kind and helpful. Uva, the lab, was an unexpected bonus and my husband totally fell in love with her. What a great dog!
Our only suggestions would be to reduce the lunch prices slightly - they felt a bit high for what we were getting - as well as the prices of the in room snacks (eg 7 euros for a bag of chips). We felt those were not reasonable given that there is nothing else to eat within a 30 min drive!
Overall we had a truly lovely stay and we hope we can come back someday.
The staff, the serenity, the pools and rooms were some of the best we have ever experienced. They went over and above to ensure we had a great stay. We will definitely return again to Vicarello! Thanks
