The staff, the serenity, the pools and rooms were some of the best we have ever experienced. They went over and above to ensure we had a great stay. We will definitely return again to Vicarello! Thanks

Magical weekend in Tuscany

The only way to describe a stay at Castello di Vicarello is to say it is akin to being blessed with family that own a 12th Century Castle in the heart of the Tuscan countryside. We were welcomed with open arms and greeted as old friends staying for the weekend.

Location/Hotel:

The hotel is beautiful and the photos really do not do it justice. When Veronica showed us around, we were speechless at how perfect the place is, constantly having to peel our jaws off the floor taking in the breathtaking views. With only 8/9 rooms, there is so much space and privacy, it’s almost as if you’re not in a hotel.

Room:

Despite our room being the smallest in the hotel, there was plenty of space and we loved the balance of luxury and rustic charm. The air-con was a dream when the mercury reached the high 30’s and the bed was huge and comfortable.

Food:

Everything we ate and drank during our stay was incredible. The chefs work incredibly hard to make everything perfect, taking our dietary requirements into account creating bespoke menus, at one point the chef changed a course last minute as the original dish didn’t turn out perfectly. Everything is grown in the grounds of the hotel or at the family’s private estate and it shows. Walking through the herb and vegetable garden before dinner was great, seeing the chefs clipping produce that was then beautifully presented to us that evening was an amazing touch.

Service:

I’ve saved this until last as it was the best thing about our stay; better than the views, the food, the amazing pools and the room was the attentive and tireless service from all of the staff. Before our stay, both Veronica’s were in constant contact, making sure that everything was perfect for our arrival and during our stay, I had something special planned and they were very accommodating. Simon, Yussef and Enriqo made us so comfortable throughout the stay, nothing was too much for them, even carrying our clothes from our camper van to our rooms and unpacking for us on arrival. The whole team really have nailed the perfect balance between being attentive and respectful, making for a perfectly relaxing trip in pure luxury.

Star gazing:

I have to mention this as it was such a special part of our stay. Veronica organised a communal dinner in the grand field for all of the hotel guests, followed by a star-gazing experience with 2 experts from Siena. Not only was it a privilege to gaze up at the night sky and learn about the constellations and Galileo, but the group dinner was an unforgettable evening, getting to know the other guests and making friends from all over the world. I would highly recommend that you do this again, it was truly fantastic!

We hope to be lucky enough to return to Castello di Vicarello, it is the finest hotel I have ever stayed in and would recommend it to anyone.

Italy at its finest.

No corporation or hotel chain (however luxurious they may aspire to be) can rival the personal commitment of an entire family who share a common vision with uncontested passion and true elegance. Welcome to the Castello di Vicarello.

We would like to thank Veronica (Principessa del Latte) for her kind welcome throughout our stay and Uva, loyal defender of the Castello.

The renovation of the castle, into what became this wonderful boutique hotel, was done over thirty years by the current owners, father, mother and their three sons. Every room, bathroom, living quarters, dining places, have been thought as a family home, with souvenirs from trips in Asia, books, objects decorating each of the guest rooms: Very tastefully done, with a keen eye on practicality, privacy, and originality, a very rare combination that provides a unique setting for all the guests.

You're super late from a road trip and arrive 2 hours late in the middle of the night? Dinner on the terrace is still expecting you, and its amazing food...

All the ingredients of each recipe came from the castle's Orto, and in the hands of their wonderful chef, the menus were wonderful. We got used to waiting for our WhatsApp daily message with the evening's menu each afternoon.

Want some real privacy (meaning alone)? Walk through the Orto (an experience in itself) and you'll find a second swimming pool hidden amongst the olive trees. Divine.

Everyone is very discreet and yet very approachable and relaxed. We spoke with Neri, one of the 3 sons, who's enthusiasm and passion for the region, the castle's history, his family history, and their future is unrivalled.

Many thanks for a wonderful stay and to all the staff members for the amazing experience you provided.
