Food in restaurant was very good and portions very generous , no air conditioning
Beautifully situated on Galway Bay the Galway Bay Hotel is in Salthill just a short distance to the city. An easy half hour walk along the water will have you in the centre of Galway. Our room was spacious and all amenities needed. We enjoyed a lovely dinner in the dining room and our server Clare was extremely helpful with the menu and was efficient with serving. Her friendly nature was refreshing. We would suggest the Galway Bay Hotel for its gorgeous water views and relaxing vibe away from the city.
We stayed for 2 nights in early July. Everything about the room was great when we checked in. I had my 2 children (19 &21yrs) with me and we had a family room, which was great. 1 queen bed and 2 twins. The only problem was that the room was over the driveway so it was pretty noisy late night when people were walking around to the doors in back. And there was a security light in the parking lot that was shining right into the room. Closing the heavy drapes worked, but then we had no fresh air. When I asked the next morning about the light (didn't bother complaining about the noise from people, that can't be helped)I was told they couldn't do anything about it, so the staff at the front offered to move me. but we didn't want to bother packing up our stuff. Anyhow, to make a long story short, don't accept room #417 (or maybe any room in the Library section) if I had little kids in that family style room, they would have been up all night. Other than that small glitch, the place was wonderful!
This is a beautiful hotel, we stayed in Room 102, it’s luxuriously spacious, not only do we have a separate sitting room with a view, but our bed looks out over gorgeous Galway Bay!!!
Thanks to Catherine at Reception for all her help, Elaine at the bar who is absolutely delightful, and Mijella in the restaurant, who was wonderfully attentive and efficient, I cannot recommend The Galway Bay Hotel highly enough.
G[alwau Bay hotel to say the least was stunning. The minute we walked in the doors of the hotel we knew we would like it as it oused character. The only complainent I have is the room we were in was affected by noise from the bar or function room. When I was checking out I pointed this out to reception who immediately brought this to the attention of a very attentive manager. This should not have happened in a hotel of this standard. Our stay was delightful but would have beenmore restive if this did not happen.
