How to Get There
Paid $25 each for a three and a half hour tour of the Kingstown area which took us to the film set where the Pirates of the Caribbean was made. Lovely scenery, interesting props from the film and an informative taxi driver. Saw the local volcano, and then onto the old fort. Much cheaper than trips from the cruise ship and more comfortable in a taxi for six.
The island of Bequia is a very unique and beautiful island. The people here are so relaxed and lovely. We had the most wonderful stay at The Old Fort. We rented the luxury suites which have been built to the highest standards and are set in the family estate in a perfect location consisting of breathtaking views and stunning grounds that we took great pleasure exploring. The staff are all so warm, friendly and helpful. Patrick, our own private chef was absolutely amazing, his food that he specially prepared for us was all incredible. Our host Quirin and his family saw to it that we had the most comfortable stay and were very helpful arranging, transport, tours and boat trips. This is a 5 star experience with a stylish, exclusive feel and is great value in every way. This is the ideal place to come whether it's with your whole family or a large party, they even do weddings here and we can see why. Their hospitality is second to none. Or if you just want a romantic luxury holiday with a true Caribbean experience this is the place to be. The Old Fort far exceeded our expectations and we would like to thank Quirin and his family and all the lovely people who we met that work at The Old Fort. You made our stay so special, we look forward to coming back to Bequia again as soon as possible!
My cousin and I spent 3 nights at the hotel during the Easter Regatta. The estate was adorable, quaint and perfect for relaxing poolside.
The staff was amazing! Everyone we encountered went out of their way to make us feel welcomed. A very special thanks to Erica who attended to our every need. The views around the hotel are indescribably beautiful.
We stayed in the "Planters Room" which has a feeling of old charm about it which suited us just fine. The room was very spacious and had a little kitchenette. The bed had mosquito netting which helped to keep most of the bugs out as we hardly got bit. I should also mention that Bequia is completely reliant on rain water which is safe to drink. Continental breakfast was included which was delicious and very filling! We ate at the restaurant each morning and enjoyed watching the hummingbirds fly around the grounds.
Overall I would highly recommend the Old Fort for a relaxing holiday.
Lucky to have stayed at the landmark/estate hotels around the world, I have developed a very strong opinion about hospitality and understanding of the comfort level while away from home. In my view, it should be a similar feeling. The happy sejour must be pleasant, warm, unpretentious, but clearly of a very high standard. It is attention to detail, welcoming service, garden/farm-to-table restaurant, most beautiful, untouched landscapes, picturesque views, peace and quiet. The Old Fort certainly has it all. Impressive. True image of an intimate estate hotel for an aesthetic experience. Thank you.
This is such a beautiful beautiful hotel. The views are breathtaking and nothing like I've ever seen.
You wake up to amazing ocean views that you just can't get enough of.
It's such a peaceful and relaxing location.
I'll definitely be back!
