In Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter, a 10-minute walk from Las Ramblas, the Arai Aparthotel Barcelona is a lovingly restored 18th-century palace with an abundance of original features, including vaulted ceilings, checkerboard marble floors and sweeping wrought iron staircases. The interiors showcase works of art from the private Clos Foundation and objects uncovered during the building’s renovation. In the 31 apartment-style rooms you’ll find fully equipped kitchens, high ceilings and private balconies, and many feature original cream-colored stone walls or exposed brickwork. The marble-clad bathrooms are suitably swanky, with large metal sinks and walk-in hydrotherapy showers. Cool off with a dip in the rooftop pool, then head down to the museum next to the lobby; the display includes vintage photographs, ceramics and a fifth-century Roman mosaic.
In the Area
The hotel is well positioned for enjoying the Gothic Quarter’s historic delights. Get a culture fix at the Gran Teatre del Liceu, a majestic 19th-century music venue that offers an eclectic program of opera, ballet and classical concerts. Just a 10-minute walk from the theater lies the world famous Picasso Museum. Housed in five adjoining medieval palaces, the museum features over 4,000 examples of the artist’s work. In the evening treat yourself to a meal at elegant eatery El Regulador. Serving up Mediterranean dishes, sourced from local Boquería market, the restaurant boasts spectacular floor-to-ceiling windows and an exclusive cocktail bar.
How to Get There
The Arai Aparthotel was a very high class hotel and the amount of space and amenities compared to the price was better than most of the hotels I have stayed at. I have traveled extensively throughout the world and would recommend this hotel to anyone!
Perfect location, clean and comfortabel rooms, very friendly and helpful staff.
The pool on the roof was very nice and towels where present.
The room had a kitchenette with fridge, koffiemachine (free koffie) and verry good airconditioning and view.
Keep up this standard!
We had an excellent stay at this beautiful hotel. The location was wonderful. It was great to stand on the balcony to take in all the activity below. My family of four appreciated the large bed and two twins, which can be hard to find in Europe. The kitchen was also a plus for storing leftovers and drinks (we enjoyed all the restaurants around too much to do any cooking!). There is a big grocery store located just steps away if needed. Finally, The gentlemen at Reception were very helpful throughout our stay. I would highly recommend this hotel!
It is located at a very nice location, where you can move around the city quite easily. The staff is very courteous, the meals especially the breakfast is very nice. You have a super market just beside it and you can get anything quite easily. It was a good experience.
Traveling in Europe with a family of 4 is not always easily accommodated. Our travel agent recommended this hotel to us and our stay was fantastic. It's located right in the Gotic area, with restaurants, shopping, the marina and even the Picasso Museum within walking distance. The hotel staff was very helpful with directions and recommendations. The hotel is very quaint, smelled of incense and our family room for 4 was spacious by city center standards. Comfortable beds, a small kitchenette with refrigerator and very attentive housekeeping. There is also a small pool with views on the roof. Highly recommend!
