How to Get There
The Volcano Lodge offers everything you want for a great family experience in La Fortuna. The staff was incredibly attentive to every detail pertaining to guest services and all staff are fluent in Spanish and English. Our family of four enjoyed the hot spring pool and the jacuzzi nightly and we always looked forward to the surprise design of our room towels (see pictures).
The hidden gem of the Volcano Lodge is the restaurant. A delicious buffet style breakfast is included to start your morning adventures, but due to the early darkness, we decided to dine at the main restaurant every night. The food was amazing and full of flavor; I don’t think you will find a better restaurant for casual or fine dining in town.
We planned different tours around La Fortuna every day and were always picked up and dropped off without problems.
The Volcano Lodge was a few kilometers out of La Fortuna, but the distance added to the privacy and seclusion that we wanted. Overall, The Volcano Lodge offers you the best of Costa Rica, Pura Vida.
Volcano Lodge made for a great first stop in Costa Rica! The grounds are well-maintained and stunning, with many different plants, trees, and birds on site, and of course, an amazing view of Arenal Volcano. Reception area has the friendliest and most helpful staff, along with a bar, billiards, and darts if that’s your thing. Our room was a short walk from the front, though they also offer a shuttle ride if you are hauling luggage, or if you simply don’t feel like walking.
Rooms and bathrooms are clean. I appreciated the hair dryer and availabiltiy of hot water. We were three adults and the space was perfect. We got the room with 2 double beds and a small private patio, which was a nice touch. There is good coffee in the room.
We visited the thermal pools every night, which was exactly the type of renewal we needed after our action-packed days. We also frequented the swim up bar, where Gabriel provided good company and service!
Breakfast buffet was very good too. It included a variety of traditional and local selections, an omelette station, breads, pastries, cereals, fresh fruits & juices, and coffee.
Drive to downtown is a short $8 cab ride away, and the front desk can help you call a taxi. They can also help book any local excursions.
It really cannot be overstated that the entire staff was incredible, from the front desk, to our shuttle drivers, to room service, the restaurant staff, housekeeping, and laundry service. Gracias por todos, Volcano Lodge Hotel & Thermal Experience!
The customer service here is excellent and the food is very good. The grounds are filled with flowers with lots of birds. The Thermals are very nice. The rooms are not large but comfortable. The thermal outside our room was very enjoyable. The kids liked it but three days was plenty. We stayed here in order to do some of the local tours and activities. This was a great spot about 10 minutes outside of town.
The idea of this place was nice, but it was very family oriented and even in the drinking areas there was a lot of families in the thermal pools. Not very tranquil, the rooms are paper thin and you can hear every word perfectly next door. It is a very well maintained property with a beautiful garden and good morning buffet. I used the sauna frequently and loved it. There are bugs that make it to your bed despite your efforts so my mom and I woke up with bug bites. They overprice for all the tour compared to intown and also increase taxi fare, which didn’t seem in the guests best interest. The tours are almost twice as much for the same experience as the price intown. The worst ending was we asked the front desk about bus tickets downtown and timing and they gave us the wrong time and threw off our entire day. It was frustrating because they did not even check, they said they knew it.
What a fabulous week we had relaxing in the thermal waters and walking around the beautiful property!
We had no idea resales what to expect and this facility met our very high standards for cleanliness, linens, spacious bathrooms, comfy beds and just great service.
Our private pool was awesome and secluded right outside our room. We also made the rounds of the other pools around the property
Very nice always clean and picked up.
The breakfast which was included in our rate was wonderful with great fruit and everything else you could want or expect. A lovely touch is the warm milk that is poured into the coffee.
Loved the property so much that I am going back in sixty days!
