How to Get There
My husband and I stayed in this lovely hotel last September. The rooms are comfortable, the pools are great, and the views are brilliant! The restaurant was decent and the front desk was rather helpful.
The hotel had great views of the volcano, great bird watching, fun wildlife, good food, attentive staff, and good hikes around the grounds. Try to get a room with a volcano view.
It is worth the trip.
What a beautiful setting, with views of the volcano from all over the property, and gardens full of flowering plants and trees. We stayed in a superior thermal room and the back patio was pure paradise. The way the hot springs pools are arranged makes them seem very private even though they are for all guests to use. They have many smaller pools that are arranged off of a central pool with plants and trees between each pool. Even though you could be a few feet from other guests you feel like you’re in your own private jacuzzi. The overall feel of this resort was more of a quiet hot springs. There was a family area/play area with a small shallow kiddie pool and large swimming pool, but no water slides or water park feel of the larger resorts. The food was good, breakfast was buffet-style with hot foods and made to order omelettes and waffles, fruit, cereal etc. They also have numerous spa services you can schedule and a full menu of tours the very friendly staff will arrange for you. I’d absolutely stay here again. The staff was excellent and attentive!
The hotel was great! We spent quite a bit of time in the hot spring swim up bar it was the most relaxing part of our trip. Great drink specials and when we visited it was never too crowded and Gabriel made great drinks!
This was a lovely Lodge but you need some down time to make sure you appreciate all the amenities. The grounds are beautiful and the volcano views from the patios are stunning. The rooms are very big and well appointed and they do amazing decorations with towels and flower petals.
Lovely thermal pools which are available until the wee small hours. Breakfast was good and there is a lovely bird feeding station just outside the dining area which attracts some beautiful birds. The service in the restaurant could have been better- either too quick so you've hardly finished one course when the next one arrives, or they don't come round at all to top up tea and coffee etc.
The only thing we didn't like was that from check in we had to wear brightly coloured paper bracelets 'at all times' to let the staff know which sort of package we were on. This was a very cheap and tacky touch and we didn't like having to wear them out of the hotel wandering round La Fortuna, like kids from a day camp. Nasty.
