Despite the curious name, the Rest Detail Hotel offers the best of both worlds: proximity to Hua Hin’s markets and attractions, as well as a chilled-out vibe. The guest rooms are quite large, ranging from one to four bedrooms and are tricked out with niceties such as iPods and free beach accessories like a beach bag for guests to use during their stay. The spa offers a comprehensive menu of Asian healing rituals, and two restaurants serve a mix of Western, Mediterranean, and Thai fare in indoor and outdoor settings. There’s also an espresso bar and program that lets guests arrange private dinners in various corners of the romantic resort.
In the Area
About three hours by car from Bangkok, Hua Hin has long been the holiday retreat for Thailand’s royal family, as well as the city’s elites and international tourists. The resort town’s attractions include the PlearnWan vintage market and Hua Hin Night Market, plus the Klai Kangwon Palace, a 1929 Spanish-style palace that’s still the King’s summer residence. (It’s invitation-only, but you can still admire the exterior.) Hua Hin is also a premier golf destination for Thai’s and visitors to the country, and the hotel concierge can arrange tee times and transportation to eight nearby courses.
How to Get There
Our family with 2 young kids stayed at the Beach Village room for 2 nights. The room is very private and is connected to the beach. The room was very nice.
The location of the hotel is a bit isolated from the Hua Hin City. Without a car, it would be very difficult to get out to the city.
Everything was great with the exception to the dinner set menu. We booked a room with a dinner set. We chose the Thai dinner set. Surprisingly, my wife and I got similar Thai dinner set. It came with 4 small portions of Thai food each. We were expecting some food to share between us. The service was very slow. Although we confirmed to them a day in advance that we would come at 6:30 pm and that we had 2 young kids. We had to wait at least 30 minutes for the food to come out. The taste was terrible. Maybe it was meant for a non-Thai. Mosquitos were everywhere. At the end, my wife and I only ate about 25% of the food. We ended up driving out to eat at a restaurant near the Hua Hin market.
They really need to improve the food choice or change the chef. Would definitely not go back for the food. But may consider going back to the hotel.
Our 1 night stay at Rest Detail hotel was really impressive for the rate that we paid for. Staff were very nice, room is perfect and breakfast was super.
Nothing to complain apart from the weather that rained almost the whole day that we stayed.
My husband and I have stayed at this hotel 3 times and even got married there. We have visited in February, September and October/November and each time it was never to crowded. Every time we've stayed at the rooms with the private jacuzzi on our private balcony and those rooms are amazing. The staff is super friendly and you wanna stuff then in your suitcase, when you're going home. The hotel is a bit outside of Hua Hin City so you do need a 10 car ride to her into town but we really liked feeling like we were living in the middle of nowhere. The food at the hotel is really good and even if you leave money at your room for the cleaning staff, it will still be there when you get back. Can't recommend this hotel enough. And booking your stay through their own website works perfectly. We managed to plan our wedding with them over email.
