Transformed from a quiet fishing village into a buzzing seaside resort, Thailand’s charming Hua Hin has long since proven itself as a dreamy beach-escape destination – even Thai royalty made their summer residences here in the 1920s. Today, its white stretch of sand is studded with seafood sellers and watersports centers, while the city itself offers vibrant markets and a distinctly cosmopolitan vibe.
Putahracsa Hua Hin is set right on the beach, offering direct access to Hua Hin’s much-loved shoreline. An attractive, low-rise resort, Putahracsa is built around calming water features, with some villas featuring their own private pools, while others feature outdoor Jacuzzis, for a truly secluded experience. The spa makes an excellent post-flight pit stop, while the oceanside restaurant and bar affords ample opportunities for sundown cocktails and dreamy dinners overlooking the beach. And should you feel like exploring Hua Hin, the hotel’s tuk tuk service makes it easy to venture out.
Oceanbed villas with an outdoor Jacuzzi are situated on the upper floors of the hotel. Each is decorated to a chic modern standard and comes complete with a king-size bed, an outdoor seating area and an outdoor Jacuzzi. Oceanbed Pool villas are located on the ground floor and also feature a king-size bed and an outdoor Jacuzzi, as well as a large private pool and a furnished terrace.
Sala Monsoon offers both breakfast and lunch in a relaxed environment, with an outdoor seating area shaded by umbrellas. Oceanside Restaurant and Beach club is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and occupies a scenic spot right by the beach. The open-air design lets the views do the talking, which are best enjoyed chilled on a throw cushion, cocktail in hand. There’s also an Oceanside Beach Bar, and Ob-Oon, a modern café serving baked delights, coffees and teas.
The hotel’s spa is a welcoming space that invites utter relaxation. Take some time out over a body massage or treatment, or revitalize with a facial. Waxing is also available, alongside hand and foot care. There’s also a small gym, with Technogym cardio machinery.
Putahracsa is situated in central Hua Hin, within walking distance of the night market and easy reach of the city’s attractions. A tuk tuk service is available to nearby destinations, making it easy to get around. There’s plenty to do in the area, including golf, bird-watching, eco-tours and mountain biking. Nearby Vic Hua Hin is a hub of activity, with art galleries, theaters and restaurants, while the Monsoon Valley Vineyard is a real draw for wine enthusiasts.
How to Get There
So I've read all the raving reviews and decided to indulge for my birthday. Usually I stay at the Hyatt Regency or Marriott in Hua Hin, so I thought I'd give a try to an independent hotel. The room we booked (Sansky deluxe) was full of mosquitoes and very dark. Depressing, even if the color tone and design was nice.
We then upgraded to a Seaview Pool villa (the highest category room) but at that price (THB19,000 or $580 per night) I expected flawless and perfect room - and it was disappointing. Not even a plant in the room, or some (cheap) orchids: it is missing a je ne sais quoi, it's just plain boring.
Yes the staff are awesome (like everywhere in Thailand), there is a butler for the villas who is helpful and friendly, and it's peaceful to hear the sea...when the DJ stops his annoying background music...
But at that price, I expected more than just incense burner in the room (because of the mosquitoes...) and 2 cookies for the turndown service, not to mention a spotless carpet instead of the one with stains. Ok there were slippers, a beach bag, fisherman pants and a tunique available with the robes - convenient.
No reading lights (impossible to read in bed), the curtains did not close properly and the bedding was too soft.
The hotel design is somewhat weird (a road runs through it) as it is cut in 2 parts, the 3 pools are small and the surrounding buildings are noisy. The tones are nice and warm, rather modern style and the breakfast is good (no gluten free items though).
I did not see anyone swimming in the sea, this part of the beach is not popular. Most of the people just stayed in the day beds area, which is very small.
Would I go back? No: despite the warm service and very convenient location (walking distance to downtown and the night market), it lacks space and greens. The design feels tight and constrained, stuck between other buildings.
There is a nice seaview for breakfast, that was the best part of the stay.
Excellent small resort, comfortable rooms, good food and very friendly, helpful staff. Will be returning again very soon.
The rooms are very clean and comfortable with great access to the pools. Food is excellent with a wide choice and breakfast has a selection for all nationalities.
The resort is on 2 sides of the road but this was no problem it actually made it better for us as is 1 very quite side to relax and 1 area to have a great meal a few drinks.
We really liked staying in this hotel. Everything was so well arranged and the staff is very attentive.
The rooms are clean and well equiped, the breakfast of high quality and the pools are very comfortable.
Putahracsa Hua Hin is a beautiful smallish hotel nearby the sea. We stayed at the Silksand room by the pool and we loved the place. If only the beach would be directly accessible, but you'll need to cross the street and go through another part of the hotel to get to the beach. It's really not a problem anyway and there's almost always a staff member to guide you safely across.
Staff is very nice and all facilities are clean and well maintained. There's also a small spa at the hotel, where pricing is a little more than if you'd go somewhere from the street, though it's nice to be able to go have a massage or treatment directly from your porch. You can have breakfast and dinner at the oceanside restaurant by the beach for additional charge.
Butler team and all staff were helpful and friendly. They're all provide great service. Residence is nice and cozy. Oceanside restarant offers good quality and tasty food. Me and my husband love tum yom fries a lot. Recommended and we surely return.
