Set in a sleek three-story building surrounded by landscaped gardens and just minutes from the beach, Loligo Resort Hua Hin has all you need for the perfect getaway. Named after the resort’s famous seafood delicacy, this hip retreat offers comfortable, modern accommodation and a range of luxe facilities. You can take a refreshing dip, hang out by the pool bar, watch your cares bubble away in the outdoor hot tub or treat yourself to an indulgent massage in the spa and fitness center.
Lounging in the sun isn’t the only way to spend your time here (though perfectly acceptable) – you’ll also have a range of culinary delights and tantalizing nightlife to explore. First of all, the hotel’s two restaurants will have you covered, with a wide range of local, international, gourmet and casual options. And for drinks, Squid Ink Bar and Sailor’s Club provide everything from mid-day cocktails to late-night revelry. You’ll also be staying conveniently close to Hua Hin Town, providing even more eating and entertainment options for you to choose from.
Stretch out in a luxurious Mini suite, which measures in at a spacious 560 square feet and comes with pool and garden or sea views from the private balcony. The suites are tastefully decorated with high-end, contemporary furnishings, as well as all kinds of modern conveniences, like high-speed Internet and flat-screen TVs.
The hotel’s daytime dining option, The Captain, serves a creative breakfast buffet in the mornings and a menu of classic comfort foods from lunch to late afternoon. Meanwhile, the on-site deli, A Caravan, is open 24 hours a day for snacks and light meals. During the day and after dark, you can enjoy delicious cocktails at Squid Ink Bar or Sailor’s Club. 24-hour room service is also available, with a full menu provided by the award-winning kitchen of Let’s Sea, the hotel’s sister property, next door.
The Blue Coral Spa is a tribute to Thailand’s world-famous healing arts, offering everything from body cleansing and traditional massage to hot herbal compresses. Whether you stay for an hour or the full day, you can expect to leave feeling refreshed and relaxed, especially if you indulge in a 90-minute aromatherapy massage.
Thailand is famous for its honeymoon-worthy beaches, and Hua Hin Beach – just steps from the hotel – is among the best. Romantic strolls, horseback rides and kitesurfing lessons are among the many activities to keep you busy on the beach. Local sights include Klai Kang Won Palace, a 20-minute drive away, and Marukhathaiyawan Palace, a 30-minute drive. You’ll also be right next to the hill of Khao Takiab, known for its panoramic views and the Buddhist shrines perched at the top.If you’re up for a more serious adventure, take an hour’s drive to Khao Sam Roi Yod, Thailand’s first national park. Or, go a bit further to Pa-La-U waterfall, a 16-tier waterfall surrounded by dense forest, where you can cool off in one of the many pools and listen to the sounds of gibbons hiding in the ancient trees.
How to Get There
Small size hotel with good location and excellence service. The overall is great. I travelled with my 2 kids which I got 2 beds in the room. It's very comfortable for 4 of us. Swimming pool is quite small but kids feel very fun. The hotel can be able to walk to the beach with not far distance. Breakfast has limited choice but enough. Cicada market is walkable. Overall is great ! Will come back. :)
The very first thing any review of the Loligo Resort has to mention is the quality of the staff and the service levels they achieve. I cannot remember a hotel I have stayed in over the last ten years where I have been so totally satisfied with the staff at a hotel. Without any exceptions.
The staff are a credit to themselves, to the management and to the owners.
We arrived late morning by Taxi From Suvarnabhumi after my overnight flight so I was pretty knackered. Check-in was easy (take note of the quirky reception wall) and we were in the room within ten minutes of arriving. Baggage taken care of for us, air-con on and room introductions taken care of.
Great bed, although it was two large singles pushed together ( I am beginning to think the wife phones ahead and requests this !) Very comfortable and nice linen.
Rom lay-out pretty much as expected. Plenty of room to move about and a nice balcony with a couple of chairs and a table. All impeccably clean.
Roomy bathroom with a better than average shower system.
A fridge is provided with what turned out to be free soft drinks, we didn't know until check-out when I asked how much we owed them! No notice to say the drinks and nuts were free, possibly a cunning plan to keep consumption to a bare minimum?
The location of the hotel has its plus points as well as some downsides. Check out before you book to make sure it is what you are looking for. For us, looking for a quiet location with the merest smattering of nightlife on the doorstep this was perfect.
Two local 'Night Markets' within short walking distance. The Tamarind and The Cicada. One top notch the other ridiculous and pretentious, see reviews.
Basic shopping is available in the hotel. Water, soft drinks and snacks etc. which is just as well as the nearest 7/11 and Family Marts are a way off on the main road. Stock up when you are out and about.
To reach the main road you can cut through the Amari Resort, turn right outside the Loligo and look for the manned gate to your left. Out of courtesy make yourself know to the man on the gate and you will have no problems. This takes you out onto the main road where there are several 7/11 etc. some restaurants and the ubiquitous massage shops.
This is where you will also flag down the local Songthaew to the main town but the hotel does offer a free minibus drop off to the town several times a day, just book at reception. A taxi or Tuktuk back will set you back 150 to 200 baht.
Other than the main road eateries you have access to several beach front Hotel restaurants but we didn't bother, one look at a menu offering tom yum at 450 baht sent us crawling away in a fit of giggles. My Thai wife could not believe anyone could have the cheek to sell tom you for 450 baht 'for whole family' she innocently quipped!
The access to the beach is down the side of the hotel, only a couple of minutes at most. The beach was a little disappointing. Firstly, they seem to have a plague of jellyfish at the moment. I do not know if this is constant or seasonal but nonetheless off-putting. Serious numbers! Although pleasant for a walk this is not what I would consider to be a beach to bathe or lounge around on. Never did get the hang of the tide times in the five days we were there.
The hotel swimming pool was adequate for us. Nice enough although a little small. there are more sun loungers away from the pool on a separate sun deck area.
The buffet breakfast was very nice albeit a little limited. Eggs pre-cooked, fried one day then scrambled the next. Bacon two ways, crispy or flaccid! Certainly not the sumptuous breakfasts I have enjoyed but more than adequate. Keep your eyes open for the odd treats on the Bar. BBQ pork with Laap dressing (superb) or chicken wings. The usual inept toasters.
My only complaint is the cost of drinks here. There is a nice bar area, manned by the same excellent quality staff. Plenty of comfortable seating but the prices are unreasonably expensive. A single bottle of Singha was 180 baht for a small! Yes you have a 'happy Hour' twice a day (14.00 to 16.00 and 20.00 to 22.00 I think) where you get 2 for 1. So a beer then is 90 baht (hardly cheap cheap) or a cocktail for 190 baht (two for 380 baht)
I did indulge in a cocktail or two when we returned from the town and they were very good but the bar area was inevitably empty. No place to meet and mingle with your fellow guests. Shame.
All in all if you want a quiet location, a good breakfast, comfortable room and to be looked after by exceptionally friendly staff then you will not go too far wrong with the Loligo Resort.
Excellent staff / Expensive to have a beer at 6pm!
Thank you Loligo. We will be back.
we stayed with 3 kids and loved it !
the resort is modern and the staff is super friendly and helpful.
clean and large enough rooms for 5.
the beach is close (2 min.) however not so inviting as the water reach the stairs.
Breakfast and coffee are good.
located 5 min. walk to Cicada market
value for money is excellent
This is a pleasant modern hotel. The sea view is over a number of roof tops.
The reason for the lower reading is that I am a huge fan of unique. If you are a South African this is very similar to the Holiday Inn. All amenities are there and you cannot fault the hotel.
However if you want charm and romance go down the road to Wora Bura. It is a few hundred more expensive pp but really worth it.
Loligo if your budget is very tight is just fine.
We decided to try this resort because it’s the sister hotel of Let’s Sea. We had a corner room in building 1 on the 6th floor. The room was spacious and clean. This particular room had a nice view. Staff were genuinely friendly and helpful, even the security and parking attendants. At night the security would escort you with a flashlight if you were going to visit Let’s Sea. The pool was small but adequate. Breakfast was okay. The hotel is 10 mins walking distance to Cicada and Tamarind Market.
