French colonial style meets 1920s glamour at this five-star sleep close to Phnom Penh’s top sights
This 12-story, light-flooded hotel artfully blends contemporary sophistication with 1920s glamour. The striking lobby, with its polished marble floors, lofty coffered ceilings and wrought iron chandeliers, is reminiscent of French colonial design. There are plenty of Khmer touches, too, with rattan furniture, gleaming hardwood floors and gently whirring ceiling fans.
Bed and Bath
The 201 air-conditioned guestrooms and suites channel French colonial style, with muted tones, polished wooden floors and dark wood furniture. Spacious and elegant, they come with all the high-tech necessities — including flat-screen TVs and iPod docking stations — and many have lovely views of the river. Bathrooms come with twin sinks and separate tubs, as well as rain showers, and are stocked with L’Occitane products. Suites and Club Rooms include access to the Club Millesime for daily breakfast and evening wine tastings.
Guests are unlikely to go hungry. There are eight restaurants and bars. The flagship eatery, La Coupole, serves a famous Sunday brunch along with Western and Asian fare, and you’ll find traditional Chinese dishes and dim sum at Fu Lu Zu, authentic Japanese at Hachi and brick oven pizza at Do Forni. There's also a chocolatiere and two poolside eateries. You can work off the gastronmic delights at the So Fit gym by doing laps in the pool or with a game of tennis or squash. Or just head to the So Spa for a relaxing massage.
