Romance is the name of the game at Mai Holiday By Mai Khao Lak, and this luxurious getaway offers the perfect setting for an enchanting escape. Located on the west coast of the Malay Peninsula, this tranquil resort is set amid lush foliage and overlooks a pristine stretch of sand. The property itself features a lagoon-like pool that meanders around the grounds, surrounded by clusters of chic guest rooms. Most importantly, the resort is adults-only, so you know you’re in for an intimate and exotic stay.
You’ll have plenty to keep you busy at this picturesque paradise. You can start your day with breakfast taken in the privacy of your own room, before heading to the large, free-form pool, where separate seating areas allow for a more intimate dip. Of course, there are tons of activities you can arrange for, such as tours of the area, authentic massage treatments or diving and watersports. Meanwhile, the rooftop restaurant provides the perfect spot for a meal at sunset, and, with beach butlers offering a menu of delicious cocktails, lounging on the sand has never felt so good.
The luxurious Deluxe suites offer plenty of space to kick back and relax. Large windows provide views of the lagoon and bring in plenty of natural light, while cool blue hues complement natural wooden tones to create a soothing atmosphere. The suites are so spacious that there’s room for a walk-in closet, a lounge with an extendable sofa and a large bathroom with a separate tub and shower.
Dine at the rooftop restaurant and bar, where you can enjoy panoramic views of the Andaman Sea. Offering international cuisine and a variety of Thai flavors, this gourmet eatery is the perfect place to spend a romantic evening. If that’s not intimate enough for you, plan a private dinner on the beach with help from the staff. They’ll even craft a beautiful sand sculpture to make it a truly unforgettable experience.
Recharge your mind and body at Mind Romantic Spa. This nature-inspired sanctuary sets the mood with water features and rainforest views. Providing soothing, custom-tailored treatments, the expert therapists here will help you slip into vacation mode. If you want to stay active, there’s also an in-house gym, volleyball and tennis sessions, a yoga and boxing studio (we recommend the Thai Boxing class) and mountain bike rentals.
The secluded resort is located on a quiet stretch of sand in Khao Lak, on Thailand’s east coast. Surrounded by lush greenery, the beach is relatively untouched, with white sand and beautiful, clear waters. The concierge is on hand to help organize tours of the breathtaking natural landscapes surrounding the resort.
How to Get There
We recently spent 8 days at Mai Khaolak for a family holiday. We have 3 children aged 3, 8 & 10. Having been to Thailand on numerous occasions this was by far our worst experience. To begin with we had no idea it was a European package tour resort. When we asked the staff they said it is for 6 months of the year, this wasn't made clear at the time of booking or on the website. Secondly the rooms were dirty, housekeeping was terrible! They didn't clean the shower, toilets or change bedlinen, it marginally improved after I spoke to the manager on day 5. The passageways as you walk to your room are filthy and full of cockroach droppings and dead insects. They weren't cleaned at all in the 8 days we stayed there. With the exception of the TUI staff, the rest are unfriendly and disinterested. The lady looking after the kids in the kids club was neglectful and was on her phone everytime we looked in. As were most of the staff at any given time! Kids club didn't do any of the advertised activities, needless to say we only used the service twice. The restaurants are all very average and pretty much serve the same food. The only thing the resort has going for it are the swimming pools, although the lack of shade made them very hot and uncomfortable in the middle of the day. They were quite dirty, two of my children contracted ear infections and I wonder if swimming in the pool was the cause of it. If you're planning a trip to Khaolak avoid this place, you can definitely do better!!!!
Just got back from 2 weeks in Thailand , went as a family of four through a tui package. Our room was ready for us when we arrived which was good as it was an early flight. Went on a bed and breakfast basis which I recommend as there are around 13 beach restaurants outside of the hotel which are all fantastic and so cheap. We said it was have been a waste doing all inclusive here. Breakfast was really nice at the hotel and had a few lunches there and bought drinks .it is alittle more expensive than the beach restaurants. There are a few supermarkets on the beach so good to stock up there on drinks and put in fridge in room. The rooms are huge we stayed in the new side just above the kiddie pool. Rooms very modern we had two double rooms with sliding doors with a massive bathroom and balcony about 3 floors up. The hotel is very clean and the staff are so wonderful and friendly. The Thai people are probably the nicest people you will ever meet. They have a lot going off for children but I would say more for younger children. They do a hangout session in the afternoon for older kids which was a good idea and they have a table tennis table. Maybe abit more for older children would be good as it was alittle quite for my boys. The entertainment team were all fantastic though and friendly and always went out of there way to talk to you.
You never had to go down early to reserve Sunbeds either and there are also signs up saying you are not allowed to. Always plenty of spots to settle in. Quieter at the top towards the adults pool or busier round the middle where reception was. They have entertainment on each night either local acts or the entertainment team perform. The rain stopped a few of the shows which was a shame. Weather was really good while we where there high thirties hot and humid. We had heavy rain most nights but stopped after around 30 minutes.
The beach is a nice stretch to walk on it says beware of jelly fish but we only saw two.
The sea and pool is very warm.
The beach restaurants all close by 10pm so it is quite a quiet resort. There is a DVD player in your room so bring your own dvds from home. The free shuttle bus is handy for town or a taxi is 300thai baht each way. Make sure you visit the night market , tsunami museum and moo moo cabaret show in town.
Get out and do trips there’s so much to do. We booked all our trips with eco Khak Lak who are based in town see separate review.
They decorated our room and gave cake for my sons birthday so that was a lovely touch also.
I would definitely recommend this hotel and we really enjoyed our stay here. Khao Lak is a really nice area to stay in.
Very sad to be home and missing it lots already
I have recently, stayed at Mai Khoa Lak Beach Resort & Spa for a night.
My first impression were excellent location, good hospitality, excellent room and facilities. I loved the pools of the hotel. There are a few pools for the relaxation. The beach could be accessed by walk directly from the hotel. It was the place to stay and hide away from busy world. Recommended for all type of travelers (e.g. single, friends or family).
There were many activities to do in the hotel like cycling, boxing, yoga (MOST OF THE ACTIVITIES WERE FREE OF CHARGE) and many more - especially there is a kid section, that hotel provides for the family travelers. I would said I could not describe how good of the hotel in words. Recommended to see and feel yourself and you will love this hotel like me. "ONE OF THE BEST HOTEL IN THE WORLD."
Beautiful property, just next to the sea. Pool is super long and it is very peaceful area. Ideal for the family travel. The lobby looks extremely interesting and hotel is definitely worth the visit. There is also good street food just outside of the hotel which has great food and it is super convenient. There is a shop in the hotel also. Breakfast was good as well. Staff members are very helpfull, especially Ms Mameaw who helped us with our stay.
What a fantastic place, fantastic food and beautiful location. Some amazing staff the concierge I’m sure named Benji what a credit to the hotel nothing was too much trouble. The older lady that worked in the food court always smiling always a warm welcome.
The whole holiday was exceptional I had one small problem with housekeeping and it was sorted immediately nothing was a problem and the manager is truly fantastic.
I love the towel system the one thing that lets the hotel down is some of the guests leaving dirty towels and rubbish by the pool. There are bins and laundry bins everywhere just pure laziness you should be ashamed of yourselves. The hotel offer a fantastic towel service and it’s so sad to see it abused.
Recommend this hotel to any family it has everything you need and more. Well done Mai Khao- Lak.
