Palatial all-villa retreat with a superlative sea-facing spa on a secluded stretch of sand in southern Vietnam
Surrounded by 45 acres of lush garden on a secluded mile-long beach in southern Vietnam, the palatial Princess d’An Nam Resort & Spa is an all-villa retreat 100 miles — and a world — away from the hustle of Ho Chi Minh City. The resort is enclosed by walls in the shape of a square puzzle, a local symbol of double happiness, and comprises just 48 private villas and a grand total of four pools and 10 private plunge pools. A vast spa faces the sea, and the staff is ever ready to race to your side with an icy drink, a chilled towel or a bowl of fresh fruit as you cut through shaded walkways to the beach and back again.
Bed and Bath
The 48 spacious villas are sun-drenched sanctuaries with creamy-hued furniture, four-poster beds and oversize bathrooms. Amenities include flip-flops, aftersun lotion and mosquito repellent. (You need it at night, because the winding pathways are shaded by fragrant greenery, including an aromatic ginger garden created by the designer of the Singapore Botanical Gardens.)
The spa is superlative — all 19,375 square feet of it. Treatments begin with staff scrubbing your feet with a pumice stone, massaging your shins and calves, and then leading you up the marble stairs to an exquisite all-white room facing the sea. Meals at the Princess can be taken in your villa, the air-conditioned dining room or on the terrace, which has views of the infinity pool, ocean and white sand beach. The gourmet food uses the freshest ingredients and is paired with select wines from around the world (for kids there’s pasta and pizza).
