great stay

The staff was very friendly when checking in. The room was nice. The pool was huge and I loved the pool hours. I wish the breakfast was free of a discount since I am a rewards member. There were several restaurants were within walking distance of the hotel. There was a small mall around the corner.

We were on trip back from Florida and were 3 hours from home. Interstate 81 struck again - we were hit with tornado warnings, flooding, severe thunderstorms and fog - it was 6pm. We were in Scranton and we pulled off to find somewhere to stay. We usually stay at Hampton but the reviews were sketchy for Scranton location, so we chose the Hilton, based on its ranking. As we were coming down the hill toward the Hilton, a tornado warning for Scranton came across the radio and said to take cover immediately. We then pulled into the Hilton's covered entrance and went inside to sign in (we had hastily booked the hotel while en route to it). The desk staff were very kind and helpful. Signed in very quickly. We parked in the city garage which is immediately next door to the hotel - cost ~12 bucks to park there overnight (we did not mind this as there was hail and strong winds expected - to have a covered and solid structure in which to park was a Godsend). There is no direct access to the garage from within the Hilton, but the walk is VERY short. Beware, the garage has a clearance of only 6'9" -- was worried the top of our Chevy Tahoe was going to get dinged - it didnt. There is another garage across the street that has a much higher clearance. The room itself was VERY nice and modern - also VERY CLEAN (the most important). A word of caution - there is no bath tub in the room (this was an issue for us as our 18 month old son does not shower yet - he showered with Mom). Not a big deal, but something to know. We ordered room service - it was prompt and expensive (we expect the expense - it is the norm for room service) - we ordered a couple of cheeseburgers and Godiva chocolate cheesecake. Both of these items were absolutely fantastic (and the fries were outstanding). As for the beds, they are VERY comfortable and the pillows (3 for each bed) were the best pillows Ive used in the many hotels in which we have stayed. I always bring my own pillow because hotel pillows are usually the equivalent of puffs of air (no heft to them). At the Hilton, this was not the case. May not be a big deal to some, but to me this is huge. The room was very quiet - there are 5 or 6 HBO channels among the TV offerings (we were glued to the local weather for the time before we turned in), What we saw of the property was impressive. Very clean and well appointed. All of the staff we encountered were outgoing and pleasant. Simply a great place to stay!!

Tub didn’t want to drain and room was hot, even after technician was called. Hotel staff should have immediately offered to change us rooms. However, we didn’t push the issue as we were just to busy to deal with it.

We are always happy when the Hilton has room for us. We love the location, rooms, friendliness and helpfullness of all the staff, free Wi-Fi, garage parking, bottles of water, fridge, coffee and tea maker and safe in room and nice toiletries. There is also a nice pool and a workout room. Good breakfast buffet or ala carte menu and not over priced.
