A grand experience

We arrived in Pittsburgh around 5pm and checked out the following morning, so we didn't really get to enjoy the beautiful surroundings as long as we would have liked. Check in was okay and we lugged our bags up to the second floor, when the elevator was out of order. Our room was on the front of the hotel and there was some road noise but not bad until the trash trucks emptied 8 trash containers in the morning. The bed was large and comfy, room temperature was comfortable, too. We were told that our room would have a tub, but instead had a very large walk in shower. Everything was clean. A few more charging outlets would have been nice, but we made do with the outlets provided. Our room had a fireplace, but we didn't use it since it was in the upper 90's the day we were there. We enjoyed the continental breakfast with juice, pastries and fresh fruit. Check out was speedy.

Lovely mansion with most details preserved, beautiful grounds

We enjoyed our spacious room on the 2nd floor although there were a couple of repair opportunities. No problem with parking our car alongside of the entrance and check in and out was easy. Breakfast rooms were lovely and the pastries were quite good with fresh fruit. Suggestion to hotel: the coffee does not stay hot in the pots you put on the table and the staff is intermittent in attention to the dining room since there are just a few people at any time. We had a drink and a hummus appetizer in the bar and watched some sports. Only comment is that it is a bit far from tourist things and restaurants; we walked quite a way to board the hop on/off tour and drove to the Botanical garden because the weather was exceptionally hot. It is a quiet place and I read in lovely public spaces.

The Building is 112 Years Old; Wonderful Stay

If you enjoy history and can imagine living in the time of 100+ years ago but with the modern conveniences, this is a place you must check out! A family member was having a medical procedure performed first thing the next morning and we needed a place nearby the hospital. Perfect!! We stayed in the main house on the second floor with the elevator. There is no elevator to the third floor so if you can’t do steps, make sure you mention this need when making the reservation. We reserved two rooms and were very satisfied with the spaciousness. The beds were like falling into a dream! Note: if you have a room facing Fifth Ave., there is traffic noice up to 11:00 pm and starts again around 5:00 am during the week. The hotel offers fruit and pastries for breakfast without a charge. There is a reasonable cost for ordering a hot breakfast off the menu.I suggest their Breakfast Sandwich... yum! We truly enjoyed our stay and would stay again. If you need wheelchair access, you would enter through the basement which is old and impressive.

What a great place!! So excited to stay here for several nights. Well worth the money. Stay when there are no weddings or big parties. Walking distance to restaurants.
A bar with great offerings. Who wants to leave sitting outside to go anywhere. Lovely breeze.

Needs decorating and service help!

The exterior is stunning, but the rooms themselves are sparsely furnished: no bedspread, no rugs, etc. The common rooms are dusty and not comfortable. While the place is run by nice young men, they know nothing about either the property or service. The service is lousy; completely untrained. Would not stay here again. Just stop by and admire the outside: the exterior beauty is not compensated for by lack of amenities.
