How to Get There
A long weekend in Philly with parents. Check in was a pleasure with Kamir, who also helped very much with valet. When I returned from my runs, a friendly greeting, name recognition and an offer of water. The bellman, Jamille Diggins, provided the most thorough and friendly trip to the room possible. He was great with my parents and should be recognized for great service. The hotel is in a fantastic location with everything walking distance in center city. Very comfortable rooms and bed. Friendly staff at the bar. Would easily return.
In Philadelphia for a conference and the hotel is not far from the PCC. It’s also close to lots of shops and restaurants which was convenient. The hotel itself is quite tired, the rooms especially. The lighting is very poor, in both room and bathroom.
Had breakfast a couple of times, and a salad one evening, was ok but nothing to write home about. You’re better off going outside of the hotel to eat.
Staff was friendly and helpful.
We had family over the memorial weekend and we decided to go to Philadelphia to visit some historical sites and monuments. We chose The Westin due to its proximity to all those sites.
Getting there was easy, we asked for early check in and we got it. We booked two rooms and they gave us facing each other on the 14th floor.
Checking in was smooth and staff were friendly. The only weird thing is that the Lobby is not at he entrance, you need to take an elevator to it.
Once checked in we went to our rooms, they were spacious, nicely decorated, comfortable and for once temperature control was really controlled and accurate.
The hotel is next to a mall, hence if you require any last minute stuffs you don’t have to go far.
As is the case with all cities parking can be expensive and if you are planning ins and outs it is cheaper and more convenient to use valet.
It is recommended if you stay with SPG normally.
As a long time starwood platinum member of 10+ years this is one of my favorite SPG hotels. The service is truly outstanding. I stayed here weekly for a period of time but haven’t been back in about 4 years. As soon as I arrived members of the hotel greeted me by first name and it was like i was just here last week.
Kareem and Gerry are the absolute best when it comes to service and making you feel like you’re at home. I wish all the spg hotels had employees like them.
This hotel is clean, quiet, the employees are knowledgeable and friendly and its in a great location. I would highly recommend staying here.
We arrived by cab to the hotel and were initially impressed, however we then checked into our room and noticed that the bathroom wasn't completely clean (hair in the bath) - and worse still, the bin in the bedroom hadn't been emptied from the previous guest. We unpacked and went to reception on our way out to tell them the problem. We were told that it would be sorted while we were out. When we came back from dinner and went up to the room, the bathroom had been cleaned of the hair, but the bin (which contained a yogurt pot amongst other things) - still hadn't been emptied.
We went out the next morning quite early on a full day trip and again told reception that the bin hadn't been emptied from the previous guest, we were again told it would be sorted. We got back later that day and to our astonishment, the room had been made up and cleaned, but the bin STILL not emptied. We went down to reception again and this time spoke to someone who was as surpised as us that this hadn't been sorted and promised to go and do it straight away. It was finally emptied after this.
When we were packing to leave, we had to move the cabinet in the bathroom as I dropped something that went behind it .. that certainly had never been done before as it was really not clean there!
When we checked out, no one asked how our stay had been, we were just handed the bill, which I checked and saw that we'd been charged $700 for the room - which had been prepaid before our stay. I pointed this out and was given another copy of the bill with the charge removed. When we got home, a week later, I checked my credit card statement and found that the charge was still on my account, I spoke to our travel agent who rang the hotel, after being passed around a few people on the phone, someone said they would sort it. It wasn't done .. she rang again and finally got hold of someone who said that they would do the reversal and emailed to confirm it had been done. It is now 22nd May .. we checked out of the hotel on 27th April and I'm still waiting for the money to be refunded to my account!
We had another problem with my friend's reading glasses that were left behind, they must've been knocked off the bedside table and gone under the bed, she realised this when we got to Washington, she rang the hotel and they eventually found them and said they would get them sent on to our hotel .. this wasn't done and after a lot of emailing and messaging, they have now been posted back to her at home (with a £17 outstanding postage charge!)
This has totally put me of Westin as a group and I wouldn't stay in one of their hotels again.
