Renovation can’t happen fast enough!
Reviewed 1 day ago

Location is great for sightseeing. And staff (reception, valet, housekeeping) are very friendly. However, the hotel itself is rundown and shabby; bathroom is tiny and very basic. I understand there is soon to be a large renovation. In the meantime, for what we paid (granted, higher because this is graduation and reunion weekend), we were very disappointed.

Great sightseeing location, hopefully nicer hotel once reno is done

I opted for this hotel in order to be close to the historic district for our recent short trip to Philadelphia. In that sense, it was perfect- easy walking distance to all we wanted to see, in a comfortable neighborhood. The hotel itself was only average for what I would consider a slightly more upscale city hotel. The hotel itself is undergoing renovations, which I knew when I made the reservation. The website mentioned breakfast being included in the club room, but maybe that was unavailable, as there was no breakfast to be had. At least they did have coffee in the lobby in the mornings. Thankfully, the parking to be included in the room rate was included, or the valet cost wouldn't have been worth it- there's cheaper parking literally around the corner. Since we were traveling elsewhere after this stay, we had food to keep cold, and I had to request a mini-fridge to be brought twice before it appeared. Even then, it was truly mini- about half the size of a standard dorm fridge. Overall, it's not a bad hotel, and hopefully will be lovely once the reno is done, but it does not go out of its way to make your experience anything more than average. Even so, it remains a decent choice for the sightseer who wants to be close to the historic sights.

Very unpleasant experience due to a rude hotel receptionst
Reviewed 1 month ago

I had stayed at Sheraton Socity hills once and returned second time this week ( April 16th). I had a very unpleasant experience with a hotel receptionist, Justin. Due to renovation in the hotel, which I did not know, I requested if I could get a room where the noise was minimal. His response was that I had booked a room with double bed and he has no other room as the hotel is completely full. I requested if I could get a upgrade to king size bed- he again declined very rudely- though I learnt later that the hotel was not full. I have determined never to return to this particular hotel. It’s a shame that in the hospitality business there are people like Justin employed

A good front desk employee can set the right tone!
Reviewed 1 month ago

After quite a few disappointing stays at Sheraton properties, I was impressed by a recent stay at the Sheraton Society Hill. A front desk employee (Deanna) was extremely helpful and professional during our check-in and stay. She answered every question and even seemed to anticipate needs/questions we might have (ie assigning a room for us away from construction noise as we were traveling with our 1 year-old) . Needless to say, encountering this one employee helped set the right tone for our stay.

Re: the property — it’s decent (although currently under major renovation). The guest rooms feel spacious, the SPG Lounge was good (with basic snacks, drinks and breakfast). The gym was adequate and clean.

Hats off to Deanna for providing excellent service with such a great attitude!

Refurb pains
Reviewed 1 month ago

1st time in Philly and a super positive experience with people, ambience, history and developing vibe for youngsters returning- soon to be THE hip place. Alas stayed at Sheraton, which with refurb was a great disappointment. Assume has seen better days and after refurb will have more. Breakfast awkward, no real lobby area nor bar to speak of (breakfast that became bar that became breakfast again). Nice if your on a bender but not what a quality hotel should have.

Was in a decent location.

Great place and as a location could be a tip for the top but hotel, work still to be done but in progress.
