How to Get There
Stayed here over a long weekend. This was our first time staying at a Marriott property as Platinum level members. We booked two rooms and one room was generously upgraded to a very nice suite. The other room was very basic with two double beds. After one night in this room I was able to switch to a room in the tower across the skybridge which was significantly nicer. Kudos to Rose at the front desk for making this happen. She was excellent. This hotel was hopping, as it was hosting a large conference. However, the hotel did not handle the crowd very well at all. On several occasions we waited for more than ten minutes for an elevator to arrive. Simply unacceptable. Sunday morning line for the bellhop exceeded thirty people. On Saturday afternoon there was absolute gridlock in the entry drive. We had to get out of our ride a block away as a result. These issues would need to be fixed before we would return.
Staff here was great but if you need a copy of your bill don't leave the hotel without it. I usually contact hotels after my stay to get a copy of my final bill and I've never had an issue until now. Its been over 10 days since my initial request to get a copy of my bill. If you try to call they refer you to emailing marriott instead and now i have several emails that haven't been responded to. It extremely frustrating since i have to submit expense reports to my employer in order to get reimbursed.
I attended a three-day conference at the hotel (but did not stay in the hotel, so this review is the Marriott as a conference venue). The Marriott was a far better venue than the 201 Hotel when I attended a conference there a few months ago. The staff were friendly and helpful. There was adequate staffing for cleaning up, serving food, and providing directions. The space itself was quite nice and the chairs were very comfortable (extremely important when sitting for hours). AV and IT all worked well. A nice touch was that the bathrooms were kept clean, impressive since there was another organization having their conference at the same time. The food was surprising good quality. The last day we had build your own cheesesteaks (beef and chicken), roast pork, broccoli rabe, homemade potato chips, minestrone soup, and salad. The tables were set with silverware, cloth napkins, and ice water. Dessert was particularly good--light yellow cake with a chocolate ganache and toasted coconut, cheesecake, peanut butter whoopie pies, canoli, strawberry shortcake. Snacks were pretty decent as well, spiced marcona almonds, watermelon and blueberries, trail mix, etc. Plenty of Starbucks coffee and tea. I've been to a lot of conferences, and I must say this was the nicest accommodations for a large meeting at a hotel. I would definitely recommend it.
