Classic Parisian style meets Italian elegance with a sun-filled courtyard near the Jardin des Tuileries
Refined but not stuffy, the Castille Paris has an enviable address on Rue Cambon in the swanky 1st Arrondissement of the City of Light, right next door to Coco Chanel's original design house. Under the direction of Italian designer Elisabetta Fabri, three private 18th-century residences were seamlessly combined to make one hotel. Gone are the expansive foyers and grand staircases you might expect at other Parisian hotels; instead, you get modern style and rich woodwork, with furniture you can sit on without asking permission.
Bed & Bath
There’s a distinct difference between the two wings, which house the 108 guestrooms. The Opéra Wing features contemporary Parisian design with Baroque elements, such as Renaissance-style portraits in gilded frames. The Rivoli Wing takes inspiration from Coco Chanel (who famously worked just down the block in her heyday), with a palette of black, white and beige. Superior and Deluxe Rooms overlook Rue Cambon or the courtyard and are kitted out with wooden parquet floors and marble bathrooms stocked with Starbeauty products.
With an Italianate fountain as its centerpiece, the sun-filled patio turns into a natural spot for gatherings and a glass of champagne among the well-heeled guests. Elsewhere, there’s a well-stocked fitness center and an Italian restaurant, L’Assaggio. The menu focuses on classics such as ravioli in truffle butter and sea bass with potatoes and olives. If you’re in the mood for small bites, stick to the bar and salon, where you can grab an espresso, tea or old-fashioned cocktail, like a gin fizz.
In the Area
Want to feel like a real Parisian? Catch a performance at the Opéra, just a few blocks from the hotel. Just behind the Opéra, try a Paris must-have, a macaron, at the iconic Dalloyau; it’s been open since 1682 and has some pretty cracking views. But for arguably the best view in the city you should pay a visit to Sacre Coeur in the hilly neighborhood of Montmarte. A good place to start a night out on the town is Les Trois Baudets, a trendy venue that plays host to a number of acts throughout the year.
