History lives on in North Carolina’s Outer Banks, where seemingly every turn leads to a portal to the past. Some 3,000 ships were wrecked here, the Roanoke settlers vanished from here, and the Wright Brothers flew the world’s first airplane here, and all of these events have become part of the region’s cultural fabric. You can snorkel or scuba dive through the shipwrecks – known collectively as the Graveyard of the Atlantic – or trace the last days of the Lost Colony at a National Historic Site. Oasis Suites Hotel is just a short drive from all of these unusual sights.
The boutique hotel’s town of Nags Head is indeed a particularly central Outer Banks destination, and this all-suite TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence winner is right in the middle of Nags Head, with views over the Roanoke Sound. With its fishing docks, gas grills, picnic tables, fitness room and seasonal pool and hot tub, it’s a convenient and comfortable base for your expeditions, not to mention your amble over the nearby beach. Yes – since the Banks are a collection of islands, the Atlantic is less than a half-mile from the hotel’s door (including from its waterfront gazebo), and there’s plenty of coast for you to coast yourself, since it’s all also visible when you drive down central Highway 12. Your journey through history looks even better with an ocean view.
Each of 16 individually designed suites comes with a balcony and views of the water and sunset. You can also relax in leather furnishings or, if you’re dining in, whip up a meal in the modern kitchen. The Stock Your Pantry service allows you to arrange for the hotel to pick up your groceries and beverages, before you even arrive. Family suites accommodate up to four guests.

North Carolina’s Outer Banks are a popular vacation destination, offering restaurants, historic sites and lots of sandy coast. The Wright Brothers flew the first-ever airplane here, so visit the memorial to them, or learn about the area’s history by snorkeling or scuba diving the Graveyard of the Atlantic, where you’ll find some 3,000 shipwrecks. Also worth a visit is Fort Raleigh, a historic site commemorating the lost colony of Roanoke Island.
How to Get There
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this hotel! Our family booked two rooms at the end of June so we could attend a nearby family wedding. The rooms were very spacious and luxurious and the water views were fantastic (it looks like all of their rooms have water views). The people that work there were friendly; they felt like long-time friends. They even had chocolate-covered strawberries and swan-shaped towels and rose petals in the room that my 88-year old mother stayed in (this made her stay extra special and we greatly appreciate it). Recommend that you book early if you want to stay here.
This hotel is lovely. The room was huge, clean and beautifully decorated. It is a short drive to Nags Head or Roanoke Island and plenty of shops and restaurants. The staff are very accommodating and polite. It was easily the best hotel we found on the Outer Banks.
Can't say enough about Oasis. It's beautiful, clean, in a great location, and all of the people who work there are friendly! It has that "southern hospitality" feel. We like to crab right there out the back, and they went out of their way to accommodate us with everything to make that easy. Great restaurants and everything nearby, parking is simple, and the pool is clean. I tried this place a few years back with a Groupon, and now have been 2 or 3 times since. We won't have to look for where to stay anymore when going to the Outer Banks!
My husband and I always stay at the Oasis! If we cannot get a room, we do not stay! The staff is very friendly. Our room was great as usual. Beautiful view, and the room was gorgeous!! This place is the best place to stay on the OBX!!!! We are coming back in August with some friends to stay a week. We are so excited!!!!! If you get a chance check out this nice place!! It’s worth every penny!!!! Oasis Simply The Best!!!!!!!
I have been to the Outer Banks many times but was looking for a place last minute for some relaxation. This was a perfect find and will be my go to place now! I had some last minute issues with my reservation due to my Mom being sick and Beverly was extremely helpful. Her wonderful attitude did not change as she was helpful my entire stay. She has a warm persona that makes you feel right at home and she takes time to get to know you. Makes you feel like you have known her forever which is a wonderful trait for a hotel manager. I also got to know Molly who works the front desk on the slim chance that Beverly is not there. She was a gem as well and has a lot of knowledge about the area that she grew up. I also met quite a few of the housekeeping staff and they were all very pleasant as well. They do a wonderful job as the place was very clean. The rooms are very spacious and very well set up. The views are fantastic. You are very close to many great restaurants but also in a very quiet, peaceful, and relaxing location. I love it and will definitely be back!
