How to Get There
we stayed at this hotel from september 4th to the 6th and had a terrible time we were made to wait 45 minutes for our room to be checked to find when we got in our room a black mark on the white duvet cover and black hairs on the bathroom floor.no where to get drink untill after 3 and staff looked turned off.used the mountain bikes but were told only for a hour but the place was empty and not one bike was in use.the in-door pool area was awful and we were ill for the rest of our holiday after using the whirlpool . not impressed at all i would say this hotel is stuck in the fifties
I agree with recent visitors that this property definitely looks tired and even dirty in some areas, for example the elevator and hallways. After waiting well past check in time, the room I was given was dark, cramped and had an odd odour. The lovely desk staff accommodated my request to move and the new room was much better. Spacious and what I was expecting for the rate. However, the ventilation located in the bathroom was extremely noisy, not controlled and prevented full enjoyment of the room and bath. The bed was very comfortable. Regarding the food; I ordered a late room service and it was very prompt and the quality just adequate - 0 for presentation. The following morning breakfast hour was missed and the dining room remained closed in preparation for Sunday brunch. Even for guests this Brunch was impossible to get in without a previous reservation and it was full that day. Sadly, at this time, absolutely no where in the hotel to eat or even get a coffee. The grounds were beautiful, staff lovely and I can see that this property has great potential. Unfortunately, badly in need of some very serious TLC and extensive renovations needed. Last observation - no proper orientation given on the best ways to enjoy this beautiful property and its amenities for which there is a fee charged of over $25.00 per day.
My family loved the activities offered. We enjoyed kayaking. There was turtles in the bay! We also enjoyed the bike path around the property, the nice outdoor pool and the mini golf.
The rooms were clean. Bathroom is small but that was expected since the hotel was build 90 years ago. The are some rooms that were renovated but we did not stay in one of them.
