How to Get There
My husband and I booked City Flats Hotel for three nights in August. We could not have asked for a better location. It is located one block from 8th Street where all the shopping and restaurants are.
They had a great happy hour from 4 to 7. We had a pizza that was great. They had lots of other choices on the menu for happy hour.
Rooms have a very contemporary feel. They were quite large with extremely high ceilings. The room had one of the nicest and largest hotel showers we'd ever seen.
Another great plus was free parking and complimentary charging for electric vehicles.
We decided to stay here at the last second after the Old Harbor Inn in South Haven lost our reservation for a shorty trip we had planned to celebrate our 30th anniversary. So we decided to head north. We searched and found Cityflats online. I called and the person who answered the phone was very accommodating and helpful. The room was clean and all of the staff were very friendly. We ate breakfast downstairs the first day and the food was very good. The gentleman who served us was very helpful with directions, things to do and local knowledge. The location was great. If I had any complaint at all, it would be that the bed was too soft, but that is just a personal preference thing. My wife prefers a softer mattress and she loved it. I understand that all the rooms are different, but we loved the set-up of our room. I could get up and watch TV or work on the lap top while my wife slept in. And while I noticed that other reviews complained about a lack of a coffee maker in their room, we did have one. We had a cup in our room while getting ready and grabbed another complimentary cup in the lobby on our way out the door. Overall, I thought it was a great place.
We love this place for a romantic getaway or with the whole family. We get a different room each time we stay for a different feel. The sheets are amazingly soft and the floor to ceiling windows overlooking downtown offer good views. Having the bar on the 1st floor and the bistro on the rooftop is really nice too. Go up and have breakfast looking over the city, great way to start your day!
