Unforgettable memories at The Matakauri Lodge
Reviewed 6 days ago

To our friends at The Matakauri Lodge,

A very big thanks to the staff at The Matakauri Lodge for truly making our holiday a very memorable one. From our welcome arrival to our daily excursions and evening dinners in the library, your personal attention to every detail was impeccable and you made us feel at home, as if we had the whole property to ourselves. We have stayed at numerous 5-star plus boutique properties in the past but the level of service and professionalism we experienced at your property is beyond words. We will always remember Benedict, Ogie, Arsen, Greg, Robin, Ksena, Cameron, Aimee and Mayo. Every interaction with you was unique and very special to us! You did a wonderful job accommodating our little ones. Very special thanks to Arsen for his exceptional service and really going above and beyond in catering to our meal preferences and providing awesome local recommendations. We will miss our chats with you. 👏

We sincerely look forward to returning soon and until then staying in touch!

Just a perfect place. Staff could not have been more helpful, views more gorgeous or food more delicious. A great location to celebrate an anniversary or anything else.
Arsen, Rosie, Kathi, Cameron and in fact all the staff were a delight.

Wonderful Hotel near Queenstown

This is a beautiful hotel on the shores of Lake Wakatipu around 10 minutes drive outside hustle and bustle of central Queenstown .
If you do not have your own vehicle , the hotel runs a car that will drop you into the centre (although you will need to take a taxi back) .It is run by the Robertson Lodges Group which also runs ,amongst others, Kauri Cliffs in the Bay of Islands which is of a similar high quality.
The views are stunning and it is extremely tranquil .The food is excellent . The staff are pleasant and professional and were very helpful when our travel had to be rearranged .
There is one Lodge room which is the entry level category situated above the reception area but the nicest rooms are the suites which are situated in two story buildings running parallel with the lake and a short walk away from the main building .
We would definitely stay here again if the opportunity arose.

Beautiful, Well-Run Property

Our stay at Matakauri got off to a rocky start: Our first night was a sleepless one due to a horrible dripping noise coming from directly over our heads. However, management could not have been more apologetic and helpful. They called in a repair crew immediately, booked us for complementary one-hour massages at the spa so that we could get some rest, and upgraded us to a lovely villa once one became available. There is so much to love about Matakauri! The property is absolutely breathtaking, with numerous walking trails nearby; the food is beautifully presented and delicious, and they accommodate dietary restrictions cheerfully and effectively; the pool and spa are small, private, and charming. We can't wait to return!

Most Beautiful View Ever

This hotel boasts the most beautiful mountain room views of any hotel I have ever been at. The architecture is designed to showcase the mountains close by. The rooms are vast and architecturally stunning. The spa is excellent. The food is outstanding and high level gourmet. Do not plan on eating away from the hotel at night, you would be missing out. They have the best snacks in rooms, especially their home made brownies. The staff is warm, delightful, and very professional. Laundry and food are all included.
