All-suite Orlando hotel with a pool, bar, restaurant and free shuttle service to theme parks
This five-story hotel in Celebration, Florida, offers easy access to Orlando’s theme parks and attractions: Walt Disney World is just two miles away, and Universal Orlando is 13 miles. The round exterior follows Celebration’s classical design scheme in yellow stucco with white woodwork and a brick façade. The interior gets more creative, with rich mauve accents and Spanish Impressionist murals on select walls that point to Melia’s Spanish roots.
Bed and Bath
This all-suite property has 240 spacious units with one or two bedrooms. Suites come with full kitchens that feature stainless steel appliances, toasters and microwaves, plus white ceramic dishware. The property draws a mixed clientele of business travelers, families and extended-stay European guests. The decor is simple: King beds with white duvets and striped headboards, living areas with brown leather couches, side tables, and round dining tables with four chairs. There are small flat-screen TVs in the living rooms and bedrooms, and tubs in all the bathrooms, along with Melia brand amenities.
Inside the Melia’s round exterior is a large central courtyard with a circular zero-entry pool that follows the lines of the hotel. An island hot tub and deck space with ample chairs and tables make it easy to hang out, and the pool stays open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Just off the small lobby is the restaurant. The downstairs gastropub offers tapas, including camarones al ajillo and ham croquettes. A curved white staircase leads up to Fuego, the formal restaurant, which is open for à la carte breakfast and dinner. Try the grilled New York strip steak with porcini butter, paired with one of the Spanish wines available by the glass or bottle. And, although not part of the hotel, guests also have access to the Celebration Golf Course, co-designed by the Robert Trent Joneses, senior and junior, as well as the three-level Celebration Health Fitness Centre & Day Spa, which has an indoor lap pool, a spinning studio, a Technogym and Life Fitness equipment, as well as a full-service spa offering Eminence treatments. An on-demand courtesy shuttle makes stops at the golf course and fitness center, as well as a Publix grocery store and downtown Celebration.
In the Area
A courtesy shuttle offers scheduled drop-off and pickup service at Disney World’s Epcot (which is connected to the other Disney parks via the monorail), along with Universal Orlando, Seaworld Orlando and the Lake Buena Vista Factory Stores. Or stay close and explore Celebration, the New Urbanist planned community built by Disney in 1994. Multiple walking and biking paths lead through open park space and down picket fence–lined lanes. The Norman Rockewell–esque downtown features a pretty lake and a few blocks of shopping and restaurants. Don’t miss the Spanish-Cuban paella at Columbia, an outpost of Florida’s oldest restaurant.
