Laid-back family-friendly condo complex with immense suites and an infinity pool overlooking Lake Cay
This four-story Mediterranean-style complex of neat condo towers is surrounded by typically Floridian landscaping (palm trees feature prominently). The welcoming clubhouse is furnished with plush sofas, and there's a concierge desk and a minimart for souvenirs and extra sunscreen — which you’ll need. The inviting infinity pool area overlooks pretty Lake Cay.
Bed and Bath
With two or three bedrooms and a minimum of 1,300 square feet, the modern, comfy suites are huge. Amenities range from granite countertops and multiple flat-screen TVs to double vanities and soaking tubs in the master bathrooms. Dining room seating for six, a laundry room, a spacious balcony, a sectional sofa and a fully equipped kitchen with stainless appliances extend the homey feel.
Simplicity rules at Vista Cay. With no restaurant, golf course or spa to compete for guests’ attention, resort life centers on the main infinity pool, the 12-person hot tub and, of course, the full pool bar. Equally simple pleasures — a game room, a splash pool — keep kids happy. A second swimming pool, barbecue pits, a fitness center and a 2.5-mile jogging trail around the property’s lake round out the basic but sufficient amenities.
In the Area
Just two miles away, SeaWorld flies under the radar as one of Orlando’s best but least crowded theme parks (its sister parks, Aquatica and Discovery Cove, offer even more access to the menagerie of marine life). Universal Orlando (home of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter) and of course Walt Disney World are also nearby. Around the corner on International Drive, amusements run the gamut from kitsch to cool. For the latter, try Pointe Orlando, where the restaurant options include the Capital Grille steakhouse, the Oceanaire Seafood Room and Taverna Opa, where belly dancing on the tables is encouraged. Vista Cay guests also have access to the Shingle Creek Golf Club, as well as the spa at the Peabody Hotel.
