Our family and friends all stayed here recently for our son's wedding. Rooms were large (suite style) and clean, and staff was friendly and attentive. We especially enjoyed the outdoor courtyard and the dining area which served a nice complimentary breakfast each morning.

We made a reservation for 3 people because we were going to pick up our granddaughter to stay with us for 1 of our nights. The morning we were going to pick her up I checked the sofa in the front room and it did not make out into a bed. I went downstairs and asked and they checked and saw that we had indeed made a reservation for 3 and not two so they changed our rooms without hesitation. The first room backed onto Los Aliso so it was a bit noisy with cars until the traffic slowed down but picked up first thing in the morning again. The pool was next door but the room key let us in and towels were available. The breakfast was much better than most with plenty of choices.

This hotel is newer than the sister hotel next door and I appreciated the fresh bathrooms, where you didn’t have to worry about mold, grout or broken tiles. I liked the double TVs in the room since I traveled with kids. The free breakfast was good and would easily cost $15-20 elsewhere. Now for the bad news, although most of the staff is friendly, the GM was condescending, sarcastic and rude. She’s Australian. Maybe that’s the standard of service down under, but not where I am from. I used Ayres hotel points for part of my stay (not all). About 4 years ago they were affiliated with another loyalty program. I asked the GM if Ayres still accepted points from that program too. The GM replied, “haven’t you got enough free stuff already?” I didn’t get anything free. I only redeemed some Ayres points. I guess she didn’t like that. Later, she gave another guest a goody bag with an insulated cup, wine and a restaurant or spa discount. Dying the goodies, I remarked that it was nice swag and she said, “still trying to get free stuff?” I also had problems with the noisy wall air unit, the dingy stained carpeting and ants in my room. To their credit, the other staff members did try to help me and offered to change the room. It was only the DM who was problematic.
