How to Get There
Wow this place was beyond my expectations. When we vacation in this area we usually stay at the Ritz Carlton or Monarch Beach Resort (formally the St. Regis) but I wanted to experience something different. The photos online makes this place look very woodsy and scenic. You would think the beach is far away but it's actually right across the street! They have a golf cart shuttle that takes you to the street and you just walk underground thru the tunnel to cross the street and the beach as well as a children's playground is right there!
My daughter and I did a little stay-cation here this past weekend. We are from San Diego and it was a short easy drive to the ranch approx. 45 min! We arrived Friday morning around 10am and did not expect our room to be ready and waiting for us...nice surprise! Blake checked us in and he couldn't be more welcoming. He put us in a nice king side room right along the creek. I love resorts like this where you can park right in front of your room. It makes going in and out so much easier than dealing with valet. I don't remember paying a parking fee but then again I didn't ask either.
Room- Amaaazzzing! Super clean it looked brand new! It was spacious, rustic, and very inviting. The bed was a dream to sleep in! Shower had the most generous water pressure. The room and bathroom was very Joanna Gaines inspired. Along with nice toiletries the room also had a fridge, keurig coffee maker, and a microwave! We ordered breakfast in bed the next morning off their mini ipads they had in the room as well as made early requests for turndown and ice. Every request was delivered. They even surprised us with two spring glass water bottles and a HUGE plate of chocolate chip cookies as a welcome gift!
Dining- they only have one restaurant I believe called Harvest. We had planned to dine there one night but realized outside where the corn hole games were there was food too. Mostly just flat bread pizzas, burgers, and finger type foods. I ordered the crispy brussel sprouts and they were very good! We ended up staying here for dinner because we loved being outside, and they had some wonderful live music going on and the kids loved playing with the outdoor games. It was an awesome family fun place to be! They also have a little coffee shop/snack bar near the main area of the ranch as well as a gift shop.
Staff- Super young local OC college kids seem to be running this place. Even though they may not have the professional experience in hospitality like the Four Seasons staff each and every one was kind and friendly! Very surprised at the level of service here. Shout out to "Bubs" our server at the pool!
Pool- This is where they lost a star. Obviously if you are coming to Laguna Beach you want to visit the beach but I am a pool resort kind of girl! I am not a fan of the sand, lugging things on the beach and dirty bathrooms. Although the pool here is ok and the lounge chairs were padded the ambiance sucked. They really need to figure out a way to spice things up because it feels like you're sitting in your backyard. Not much to see and it's quite boring. The pool is salt water and they did say it's heated but it was cold to me. Also the food here is served in paper boxes so there's that.
All in all I think I would enjoy a solo trip here or with another adult to enjoy some peace and quiet. There are also some hikes I wish I had the chance to check out but forgot to pack some sneakers!
P.S. Because this ranch is tucked in between the canyons there was zero cell service to make phone calls. They did have WiFi so you are able to text, check FB and IG but if you want to make actual phone calls good luck.
What a wonderful and relaxing honeymoon. We swam, enjoyed the spa and the staff is amazing. Highly recommend The Ranch for vacation, honeymoon or even family time with kids. There’s something for everyone.
We live local in Dana Point, my wife wanted to do a staycation, she decided on the Ranch. The rooms have been thoroughly remodeled, the dinner was exquisite, and the 9 hole course in great shape
Tucked in the Canyon off Coast Hwy, secluded enough, yet a golf car ride to Aliso Beach to enjoy fun in the sun. The staff is very accommodating, helpful and courteous.
There is music on the patio every evening from 4:00 - 8:00 with table service for drinks and lite dinner fare. A fun evening, before of after dinner, for a causal nite out.
Give it a try, it's a hidden gem on the beach in the OC.
My fiancé and I absolutely love The Ranch at Laguna Beach . The staff is always friendly and housekeeping is superb. We find it hard to leave at checkout . If you get a chance eat at Harvest and ask for Indi and Gabe , five stars on their service and attention to detail .
Had a great vacation here with my husband and my parents for 3 nights.
Felt very peaceful surrounded by green hills and trees.
Rooms are very spacious and comfortable.
The main restaurant was fantastic- all the dishes we ordered were delicious and we went 2 nights in a row!
Only negative was golf course. It was just average compared to other facilities.
It was great overall and will come back one day!
