Situated on a dramatic 50-foot bluff, the 248-room Montage Laguna Beach embodies the era when the California Arts and Crafts movement began. The sprawling rooms, suites and beach bungalows display local artwork in a minimum of 500 square feet, along with private balconies, marble baths and luxurious feathertop beds. The 20,000-square-foot spa is a jewel, with eucalyptus steam rooms, dry redwood saunas and fireplace lounges. Guests can explore 30 beautiful acres with white sand beaches, or lounge by the pool, which features private cabanas, a whirlpool and a kids play area. The Mosaic pool bar serves California-inspired dishes such as local halibut with sweet corn sauce and blackened half chicken with corn tortillas. Two additional dining venues grant panoramic views: Studio, an elegant space that serves modern French cuisine, and the Loft, which offers creative American fare prepared on a six-foot wood-burning rotisserie.
In the Area
Laguna Beach has an abundance of art and culture, and during July and August the Festival of Fine Arts produces the Pageant of the Masters, a theatrical extravaganza in which art comes to life onstage. Visitors can also catch an evening performance at the Laguna Playhouse, a historic theater that was founded in 1920 and continues to showcase outstanding talent. One unique attraction is the tide pools at Glenn E. Vedder Ecological Reserve. Pack a picnic lunch and look closely: The pools are full of colorful marine life. There is no shortage of shops and art galleries to peruse, and the Laguna Art Museum has several impressive collections. For casual dining in town, Nick’s Laguna Beach serves everything from deviled eggs and burgers to perfectly prepared seafood and steaks.
How to Get There
Montage is a unique wonderful hotel, views, rooms, and staff are outstanding. We happened to be there the same weekend as a sales conference which impacted the tranquility we've come to expect here. Be sure to inquire about the such events when you make your arrangements. For the money spent, you'd shouldn't have any disappointments.
Recently stayed at the Montage for a business board meeting. From the moment I arrived at the property I felt very welcomed. The woman who checked me in at the front desk personally walked me to my room and went over everything in the room with me. The room was not huge but very nice and comfortable. The view from my terrace was amazing. It overlooked the entire resort and the beach.
I arrived a day early for my meetings and had ample time to explore the resort. The fitness center is very well appointed inside of the spa with top line equipment and huge doors that fully open to a private pool and a beautiful view of the Pacific ocean. After my workout I enjoyed a very nice lunch at the outdoor bar/restaurant. The drinks were very good and the ceviche I ordered was delicious. The grounds of the resort are meticulously maintained and the walkway throughout is wonderful.
We had all of our meetings and meals on-sight. All of the staff were very attentive and the meals were quite good including breakfast, lunch and dinners. I would definitely recommend Montage as a place to visit either with family, a romantic getaway or just to unwind in a tranquil environment for a few days.
This hotel is stunning - the ocean views from the lobby are breathtaking. It has relaxed, old school California charm. The beach is fun but shuttle is needed and not a ton of service on the beach. The pool is totally fabulous. We came with our 2 year old and absolutely loved it.
Under new management and thier internet was down during my stay but it is still a beautiful resort. Food at the grill is delicious and the pool is always a great place to spend a couple hours. Their spa services are immaculate, especially the two ladies who do manicures and pedicures. Expensive but worth it for couples retreat.
I stayed here for a wedding and we could have not been more pleased with the resort.
Set up high from the ocean for great breezes and views, the hotel is only a few miles from downtown Laguna and they have a driver who will take you there.
Large, well-appointed and oh-so-cozy. Most seem to have balconies. Very luxurious.
The food at the wedding and all of our other meals were excellent. Everyone universally liked the food.
Very friendly staff, especially the driver who took us back and forth to town.
For a resort of this size only one pool and I think could be slightly bigger. There is a pool with the spa which I think is better and should be open to everyone.
Facial was excellent and there is a pool for spa guest which has the most perfect views...even better than the regular pool.
Massive, and has all the equipment you would ever want.
Overall we loved it here and I recommend for a long weekend if you are in the area or coming through Orange County.
