Situated on a dramatic 50-foot bluff, the 248-room Montage Laguna Beach embodies the era when the California Arts and Crafts movement began. The sprawling rooms, suites and beach bungalows display local artwork in a minimum of 500 square feet, along with private balconies, marble baths and luxurious feathertop beds. The 20,000-square-foot spa is a jewel, with eucalyptus steam rooms, dry redwood saunas and fireplace lounges. Guests can explore 30 beautiful acres with white sand beaches, or lounge by the pool, which features private cabanas, a whirlpool and a kids play area. The Mosaic pool bar serves California-inspired dishes such as local halibut with sweet corn sauce and blackened half chicken with corn tortillas. Two additional dining venues grant panoramic views: Studio, an elegant space that serves modern French cuisine, and the Loft, which offers creative American fare prepared on a six-foot wood-burning rotisserie.
In the Area
Laguna Beach has an abundance of art and culture, and during July and August the Festival of Fine Arts produces the Pageant of the Masters, a theatrical extravaganza in which art comes to life onstage. Visitors can also catch an evening performance at the Laguna Playhouse, a historic theater that was founded in 1920 and continues to showcase outstanding talent. One unique attraction is the tide pools at Glenn E. Vedder Ecological Reserve. Pack a picnic lunch and look closely: The pools are full of colorful marine life. There is no shortage of shops and art galleries to peruse, and the Laguna Art Museum has several impressive collections. For casual dining in town, Nick’s Laguna Beach serves everything from deviled eggs and burgers to perfectly prepared seafood and steaks.
How to Get There
Great location. Facilities are world class. Staff is responsive and friendly. Walk to the beach and restaurants. The pool area (picture attached). Enjoyed a great walk down to and along the beach. Nice walkway.
Worth the price.
Came here with the spouse for a conference. The room was very beautiful; nice and big and so clean. We requested a crib and they even provided baby wash and wipes for us. I loved the Cadillac car service; it was very useful since I had a baby (thank you Kyle for taking us around town!). I shopped at their stores as well and all the staff are so so friendly. I loved the house made chocolates that comes at turn down service and looked forward to those each night but didn't get any on the last night :( ). I think the location is awesome as well; right across the street there are restaurants and a grocery store. The drive to downtown is not far as well.
....who dare visit this place. Took my Mom here to enjoy the live piano music and try to one-up her for her recent "feat" of treating me to lunch at Fairmont Grand Del Mar. We enjoyed the views, our tea and the tiramisu which was absolutely divine. Servers and valet parkers are actually better looking than the guests, at least when we were there. Hate to do the same mistake twice. I forgot to not valet park here. It'll cost you $55 without validation and $25 with validation. A good ploy to keep riff raffs at bay. Views are awesome.
This is the second Montage I have stayed at (Deer Valley the other one) and it was just as spectacular. It sits on a bluff overlooking the Pacific and is surrounded by walking paths with tasteful landscaping and access to the beaches. The lobby, common areas, and rooms are very well done, completely up to date, and with the level of appointments you would expect from a luxury hotel.
The lobby opens up to a broad sliding door on the back side that gives access to patio areas that overlook the ocean, where you can get drinks and snacks. Really nice place to have a cocktail and watch the sun set.
Our room had a nice balcony with a great ocean view as well. Bathroom was great.
Overall, just a really nice place, again on par with the best that the Ritz or Four Seasons has to offer. If I had one complaint, it was that we were there around new year's and they left the large patio doors open well past dark; got pretty chilly in the indoor lobby and bar area. (that's really a small complaint!). Also, it appeared they were doing renovations on a wing of the hotel. Did not affect us in the least, but something to be aware of.
A beautiful setting right on the ocean. Easy access to well landscaped walking paths with many benches and beautiful views. The pool area and hot tub are well appointed. The hotel room was very spacious, high quality furniture (Barbara Barry) and a very large marble bathroom with separate tub, shower room and toilet room.
Luxury bath products.
The restaurant experience was top notch - fabulous wine list, fresh outstanding ingredients - very attentive service.
Can’t wait to go back to Laguna Beach.
