How to Get There
Our room was spacious. Only downfall was not realizing that we would be directly under the take off path for the John Wayne airport. Planes started up at 7am or earlier and didn’t finish until after 10pm. Literally we heard a plane every two min. One of the days the housekeeping only left on coffee filter and there are two of us. I called and they immediately sent us some. We had breakfast in the restaurant at the hotel. I ordered oatmeal and a poached egg. The female waitress said, “just one egg?” I answered, yes. She later brought my oatmeal and left. After some time, I asked her about my poached egg. She said, “oops, I forgot” I’m diabetic and I always balance a carb with a protein. I did not feel I should have to explain myself at a restaurant. She showed a obvious lack of concern for customers. She also never refilled my coffee. I personally will not return to this hotel.
My family stayed here at the tail end of a Las Vegas to Los Angeles road trip. Since we were flying out of John Wayne airport, we chose a location close enough to provide easy access for our morning flight, but not so close that the noise from planes kept us awake. We only heard planes taking off or landing a few times in the 2 days we stayed there, and even those were faint. There was free parking for our rental and an airport shuttle service.
We were extremely pleased with the value and quality of the hotel. We opted for an upgraded room with separate master bedroom, kitchen area, and fold out bed for the kids (2 and 5) right off of the main courtyard. The price was very reasonable (especially when compared to the utilitarian Motel 6 room we paid 30% more for in 29 Palms the night before). The front desk staff was attentive and professional during check-in and airport shuttle booking.
My only 2 minor gripes are that my iOS devices sometimes dropped off of the free wifi, and I thought the master bedroom could use a comfy sofa chair. (There was a wheeled office chair out in the main room, but none in the master bedroom.)
A charming hotel with a nice restaurant and patio. Staff are pleasant and helpful and the rooms are clean if pretty standard. The significant downside is that it is in the flight path of the nearby airport and the low flying planes are very, very loud.
My room, the service, and overall stay was great on my recent business trip.Bed was comfortable and my room was dark and quiet. Breakfast is tasty and convenient. There are also a couple restaurants and a great coffee shop located within a very short walk.
This was my first stay with any Ayres Hotel and this location was beautiful, very accommodating for our business group. Food was very good. I stayed in the Junior Suite and it was roomy, clean and comfortable. Jetted tub was a wonderful change and relaxing after a long day of work. I recommend this hotel a great stay !!
