How to Get There
We stayed at the Ayres Hotel Costa Mesa because we were attending a UC Irvine event. The staff was friendly and the rooms were clean. We also received a UCI discount. The courtyard was lovely and there were two pools to choose from.
At first we were worried about the airplane noise, but luckily, the airport Nextdoor shuts done 10-7 at night.
We encountered a few things that we aren’t used to. There was not a complimentary breakfast. If you wanted complimentary hot coffee, you had to get to the lobby before 7 a.m. There was a coffee maker in our room, but we didn’t brew any since we thought there would be some downstairs as we checked out.
I suggest shopping for a few items beforehand to put in the fridge in the room. There is also a microwave.
For the money, location, and suite size, we would definitely stay at this hotel again.
This was an interesting stay. We had a problem where someone who checked in the same day as us also got keys to our room and were told to go to our room when their actual room was on a different floor. Front desk was very apologetic. Besides that, my only complaint is the fact that the maid would come at the most random times - once she showed up at like, 8:30 A.M., when the day before she hadn’t shown up until after 3. She usually came during the earlier morning and woke us up though. Other than that it was quite a charming little hotel. Most of it is pretty open air, and they seemed to be best at accommodating larger groups. The pool does get to 8 feet deep, so be aware for little ones. The elevators are kind of creaky, it’s easier to take the stairs to get to the pool area (which is kind of sunken into the ground, you can look down on it from the first floor - because it’s on a hill). Also, the road leading up to it is a one way and you cannot turn left. Pretty cool hotel, though.
Great location, easy to get to, excellent rooms & service. I would go there just for the food! I enjoyed the pool and spa but mostly my wife and I enjoyed the patio dining and wait staff! This is our second time staying here and will not be our last!
