How to Get There
Great location attached to the Eaton Centre, near the theatres, bars and lots of shopping on Queen street.
This is a busy hotel, and the rooms are pretty nice and well appointed. The lobby is great to sit and mingle, or the lobby bar is a great place for drinks. The location sells this place, go to the Keg on York street for dinner, and a show at one of Mirvishs theartres.
We found on this trip which was a very large venue for the hotel that they were not used to handling this many people at one time . The line ups were very long to check in . The restaurant in the lobby was extremely slow for service . They could not accommodate parking we were sent to a lot a few blocks away. We usually do this at the Royal York and the intercontinental and have never had a problem. Staff were very polite and hotel was very clean .
The beds at the Sheraton are too high. There. I've said it. Made for giants. A barrier to the short.
That was the only problem. Really, considering our demands it was the only problem. We arrived very early to check in, at 10:00 A.M. Our selected room with a King bed was not available, but we were offered a very nice room with two Queens very close to the elevators. Close to the elevators was critical. Check-in was smooth. Room had everything we needed except for a fridge - and we really didn't need the fridge. Enough room to move, and to sit - bathroom counter a little small for two people, but we managed.
One of the elevators didn't go to our room, no matter how hard we tried. And once it got stuck, a new elevator would not come along until the bad one moved away. So we were stuck on floor 4 for a while with no way to get to floor 9 - the elevator would not read our room cards.
Check-in and check-out were smooth. There was a small problem with a discount voucher for forgoing room cleaning but that got settled efficiently. Luggage storage was helpful. And our one room service order was very pleasant.
And the convention floor service was also excellent!
But having to leap into the bed using all of our strength was draining. The beds were very comfortable but there was no need for them to be that high.
Was last here nineteen years ago. Rooms, amenties, etc. still all good, though more streamlined (less generous). Good location, enough elevators. Pillow top mattresses--too soft. No maps and stuff--everyone is expected to work off their phones nowadays. Did not try the restaurants in the main hotel. Irish-y bar and fast-ish food place in an annex just average.
Not kidding. I got here this morning at 4 AM with a flight delay of three hours. The best thing they could think of doing was giving me a room that was so noisy I could not get my two hour sleep. There is no doubt in my mind that they knew about this. They refused to clean my room the next day. Too noisy?
This is my worst experience ever in a hotel in Toronto. Unless you have a conference here go somewhere else. Check in lady promised free Wi-Fi. Do you think I got it?
