How to Get There
Great stay in a fabulous hotel! Staff are friendly and professional. Room was lovely- suite -so lots of room. Everything spotlessly clean. Bar restaurant happy hour with an appetizer - pleasant bartender. Great location!
I stayed at the Cambridge Suites in November for a business trip in the area. The property was very nice, the room was updated, clean and had nice little random amenities I wouldn't have thought to ask about.
The area around the property is decent, you have easy access to a couple convenience stores directly across the street, some fast food and a variety of other dining options. It is fairly easy to navigate around the city from this location as well.
Only extremely minor gripe would be the fairly slow elevators - but hey, it didn't make my stay noticeably worse or anything.
Definitely would stay here again.
My wife and I had occasion to stay here whe going to St. Michaels Hospital abut a hip operation that I will be having soon. While the rate was not cheap, it was very reasonable considering how comfortable the two rooms suite was, the conveneicnce of the parking and the location. for the hospital. Hotel staff were very helpful, and the resaurant in the hotel provided both good tasting food and pleasant service and surrouindings. Did not time for the hotel breakfast so used our fridge & coffee maker instead. Had planned to stay elsewhere next time to save a few dolloars, but decided it was great value and will return. Also good for anyone wanting to visit downtown Toronto generally, not just the hospital.
Everything about my stay was beyond my expectations - the layout of the suite with the bedroom in the back corner made for a super restful, quiet sleep, the bed was extremely comfortable, the bathroom had a ton of counter and closet space, the snack and cocktail selection in the rooms was unexpected and nice to come back to after a long work day, the Staff was extremely accommodating, the restaurant had a very diverse, high quality menu - even the transportation organized by the hotel was super professional, friendly and affordable. Would highly recommend this hotel!
We've been staying at the Cambridge Suites two or three times a year for at least a decade, and always enjoyed the value, comfort and prime location in the heart of downtown -- it's connected directly to the PATH, and close to Eaton Centre, Dundas Square, etc., etc. -- but we've noticed it was kind of fading in terms of room maintenance on the past couple of visits, including our stay there in June of 2018.
We are pleased to report that the hotel seems to be working hard to make up this kind of deficit, and on our most recent stay, found our room to be in excellent shape (no duct tape sealing leaky windows, and the toilet was firmly fixed to the floor).
The elevators were being upgraded during our stay, and the hotel kindly placed a bowl of mints by the doors with a sign apologizing for any delays, and inviting guests to have a treat while they were waiting -- regardless, the elevators seemed to arrive promptly whenever we called for one.
The Cambridge continues to offer a cosy bar with nibbles during the happy hour, as well as the Portico restaurant, with an interesting selection of dishes at what I would consider pretty reasonable prices for a nice dining room in downtown Toronto -- with entrees ranging from around $18 (pasta) to about $40 (rack of lamb). There's a fitness/workout room and the hotel also provides guests with free passes to a fully equipped gym next door.
There is secure underground parking -- again, at what I would consider a reasonable price for downtown Toronto -- free wifi, and the hotel itself works hard to ensure guests feel secure and are not disturbed. As always, front desk staff are friendly and accommodating. Room rates, compared to other hotels in the neighbourhood with similar amenities, are quite attractive...shop and compare, as they say.
In short, after experiencing some doubts on visits in the recent past, we're happy to say the Cambridge Suites is once again meeting the high expectations we had developed over the years and we will definitely be back. Excellent value.
