How to Get There
My husband and I came here last summer with his colleagues for a company weekend get-away and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Our bed was made of expensive quality material and it was the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in (besides our own bed at home) and they provide you with a lot of pillows. The room and bathroom was very immaculate and spacious and when we looked out our window, we had a beautiful view of the lake. They clean the rooms regularly and customer service was friendly too. The bath robes that were provided with our room came in handy at night when the temperature dropped and got cold. There was also a bottle of champagne provided by the hotel but I'm not sure if it's just because we were here for a company event or if this is what the hotel just does for any guest who stays at this place. Nevertheless, it was a nice little bonus gift, which we enjoyed. Queen's Landing also provides shuttle service from the hotel to the Pellar Estates winery upon request, which was convenient. The hotel is also a few minutes walk from the Shaw Festival Theatre, Fort George historical site, and other wineries and attractions.
Check-in and check-out process was very organized and an easy process. Walking into their lobby and through their halls felt like I was entering into a fancy castle. Overall, I would definitely recommend this hotel for those special occasions, whenever you are in the mood to splurge.
The staff were friendly and car parking easy.
The bar food was a disaster taking an hour for a burger to be served. The burger could not be severed “medium-well” as “the ground beef has to be cook all the way through to be safe”. Now imagine that served with frozen yam fries all stuck together and soggy. On the plus side the manager comped the food quickly on complaining.
The room is a throw back to the early 2000’s with $25 pay-per-views on a small 720p TV. The bed had brown vinyl head boards. The pool was so so. The hotel is looking tired and pricing does not reflect the quality expected. Hotel chain Vintage have a local monopoly, and the lack of competition shows.
Some of the newer vineyards in the surrounding area are superb and rival the best in Napa. Big Head, iCeller and especially de Simone, all standout.
Stayed in this hotel a few times now and it is always great. The rooms are spacious and it is very quiet. It is nice to be a few blocks away from the main drag which can be very crowded in the height of tourist season. It is about two blocks from the Festival theatre, but everything in the old town is walkable from this location. The terrace and restaurant have a wonderful view of the water as well. Staff are responsive and helpful. I have stayed at other hotels in the area but this is my favourite by far.
If you are going to Shaw and want a bite to eat before, highly recommend the lounge/patio. Great food selections and Michael our waiter really made our lunch enjoyable as he was extremely friendly, attentive to detail and knowledgeable about tasting notes in local wine choices. New Club sandwich and charcoal bun burger were excellent. Location is a short 5 min walk to festival theatre.
The patio at the Queen's Landing is an experience we never miss on our trips to Ontario. The setting is beautiful and relaxing, the food is delicious, and the service impeccable. We stopped in for an early, light supper and were not going to have dessert. After we looked at the menu, we changed our minds. We are not people who usually order vegan or gluten-free food, but we decided to try the coconut tart. We were nor disappointed. The tart and the dark chocolate orange torte were the best desserts we have eaten in ages. We highly recommend this restaurant.
