Very nice views from rooms

We had three rooms for couples. Every room had a beautiful view. This is a very nice hotel to stay but expensive during summer months. However this is true for most hotels at Niagara Falls. Staff were nice and helpful. The tower restaurant had great views too.

Front desk let me check in several hours early for no additional fee. I did not pay a property fee because I did not drive a car to park there. The room was clean and I was given a room with the side view of Horseshoe Falls on the 8th floor. Could not be happier - I ate my dinner in my room as to not waste one minute. This review is on the hotel itself, not any "coupons" which of course are geared to tourists to get them in the restaurant doors and I did not use those because I knew better. I did get a burger across the street and everything was in walking distance. You can even cut through the Embassy next door to get to the incline railway to the Falls welcome center. I highly recommend a stay at the Tower Hotel.

Beware of hidden "mandatory" extortion like fees

I booked this hotel for a night and upon checking in I was shocked to find out that there is a $15.00 "mandatory property fee." i booked a room through Expedia and nowhere did it state that there was a fee, they only inform you when it was too late and you're already at the hotel leaving you no choice. As I spoke to the front desk about it the lady informed me that it's stated in the Expedia website and when I told her to show me she printed off the website page and highlighter the portion where it states;

"Optional extras
The following fees and deposits are charged by the property at time of service, check-in, or check-out.
Breakfast fee: between CAD 10 and CAD 30 per person (approximately)Fee for in-room wireless Internet: CAD 9.95 per night (rates may vary)Fee for wireless Internet in public areas: CAD 9.95 per night (rates may vary)"

Please note that it states its "OPTIONAL EXTRAS" and when I asked her if Wifi was optional or mandatory she preceded to tell me that it was a MANDATORY FEE? There is a contradiction there.

I then preceded to get in touch with the GM Kim SINODINOS who informed me that she will refund me my $15.00 and will "look into it." Well a few weeks later I still didn't get my refund and nowhere are the fees reflected on Expedia.

This is a bait and switch/misleading tactic used by the hotel to mislead their guests and then extort them for extra money when it's too late! BTW Kim I'm still waiting for that refund you told me you were going to honor. Thank you.

Beware hidden charges

This is a hotel that has clearly made a decision that its view of the falls is all it has to give its guests, because everything else is awful. I'm kicking myself for not reading other reviews first, I would have seen that many many guests complain about getting hit with hidden charges. I was quoted a price to the penny, including taxes and destination fee, but when I went to check in I was hit was $35 parking and $25 "facility fee," which seemed like extortion: I couldn't just go elsewhere because they already had my reservation deposit for the night, so I had to pay it even though it got me no services I wanted or needed. Expect to pay about 20% more than you are quoted. The rooms are tiny, there are no amenities, the furniture is cheap particle board covered in laminate. This for a $400 a night room. The people at the front desk were surly. Questions for front desk? They won't answer anything, they send you to concierge at hotel next door. Again, the view is fine, but that is ALL the hotel gives you, everything else is substandard. With so many other hotels with like views, I would not stay here.

Save yourself time & money, go stay at one of the hotels next door.

We were super disappointed with our stay at the hotel. My boyfriend & I saw the views online and decided to splurge on a "luxury King room" however it was not "luxury" in anyway. The views are gorgeous. However, they're just as nice from the hotels beside The Tower. Everything in the room was in disrepair, bed frame was completely broken off, toilet roll holder & toilet handle was almost hanging off bathroom door lock was broken, the toilet ran extremely loudly for up to 3 minutes after use, shower leaked everywhere plus the water never passed warm, wood was stripped off dresser, the chair was filthy, the lights flickered excessively, etc. We took lot's of videos & pictures should management want to see them. This room was probably a "luxury room" 25 years ago but not anymore & to label & charge as such is false advertising. There was also the issue that they advertise microwaves in the rooms however when asked they said its a fire hazard and maybe the hotel next door would let us use theirs? The wifi didn't reach our room & would only work 20% of the time while using a laptop, not at all on our phones. Another issue was the parking, after I checked in I asked at the front desk where my boyfriend could park our car as he was waiting out front. I was told to hand the keys to the valet & they would park it for us. As their was no mention of cost, we thought it was an awesome (albeit justified) perk to staying in an expensive luxury hotel. When we started having concerns about our stay, we checked out more google reviews & found they were charging $35+ a night for parking, which we were never told. I went to the front desk, explained about having problems, reading reviews & finding out about the parking, he tells me they will cover our parking, not to worry about it & then turned away, not giving an opportunity to discuss our other concerns. The sheer fact that they charge that much a night for parking is ridiculous. It is not valet. They take your car & when you want to use it you have to wait for a shuttle, stop at other hotels and pick up more people and then drive about 10 mins to a random parking lot away from everything to get your car. Thats a rip-off, plain & simple. Speaking of rip-off, the IHOP in the hotel was honestly appalling. We almost left when we saw the prices however after waiting so long for a table & hungry for breakfast we decided to give it a chance. What should have been maybe a $15 meal each was $30+. Even with the $15 off coupon from the hotel our breakfast was $55 for a basic breakfast & crepes. The food was cold, we had no cutlery so after our food was brought over we had to wait for that, our waitress took our order and delivered our bill (food & cutlery were delivered by someone else), never filled up our waters, asked about food, etc. When we checked out, I told a different man at the front desk (who was very kind, understanding and helpful!) about our concerns & that our stay was less than satisfactory. He told us there was no manager on at the moment but wrote everything down and said he would try to compensate us. We were to receive an email with our bill (which was hopefully to be revised) BEFORE our card was charged but our card was charged (for more than we expected) and we never received any email. I've emailed them & tried to get ahold of a manager only to be passed along and sent to voicemails. From past reviews it seems customer care isn't a high priority but after speaking to the man at the front desk I had high hopes that we would be taken care of. Unfortunately we've been let down. I'm not sure if they read their reviews but if they do I would be more than happy to give them the chance to make this right. As 2 young people who were so excited for this trip & trusted this hotel to provide an amazing stay for a high price, we're disappointed & feel swindled. Hopefully this can be corrected however until then I honestly can't recommend that anyone trust this hotel with their hard earned money.
