Overview

Stately Omaha digs in a landmark Italianate building, with a beautiful central courtyard, 145 rooms and daily wine hour
The Lowdown
In Omaha’s former Acquila Court Building, the Magnolia hotel offers a comfy downtown base in a grand setting. Beyond the elegant facade, said to be inspired by a Florentine palace, interiors have a stately style with exposed brick walls, barrel ceilings and intricate ironwork accents. Guestrooms are spread over three floors and have a simple look in chocolate, white and duck-egg blue shades. All overlook the cityscape or charming central courtyard (popular for outdoor weddings) and come outfitted with flatscreen TVs, work desks and coffee makers. Modern bathrooms have walk-in or over-tub showers, single vanities and own-brand toiletries. The dining experience at Magnolia Omaha begins with a free breakfast buffet (hot and continental) in the Lounge and includes international favorites for lunch and dinner, plus room service (from 6 am-11 pm) and a pre-bedtime spread of cookies and milk. A wine reception is held in the Lounge from 5:30 pm-6:30 pm daily, and there’s a street level terrace for alfresco dining.
In the Area
Culture vultures are in a prime location for checking out a host of downtown sights, from the Orpheum Theater and Holland Performing Arts Center to the Joslyn Art Museum and public art displays, including the 32,500-square-foot Fertile Ground mural by Meg Salesman at 13th and Webster Streets. For families, the Henry Doorly Zoo is home to a rope swing bridge suspended above a tropical rainforest, there are interactive displays at the Omaha Children’s Museum and a peek into pioneer life at the Mormon Trail Center. Hungry? Try new American favorite Flatiron Cafe, Hiro 88 for sushi, Plank Seafood Provisions for oysters and Upstream Brewing Company for classic pub grub and seasonal brews.
