How to Get There
Booked Junior Suite directly through Marriott on 9/14 for 10/12 and 10/13. Received call at 8:30pm the night before (10/11) that they had to cancel the first night of our reservation. They overbooked the hotel and offered a lower quality room at another property further from the Stadium.
I understand that hotels overbook but to call the night before to bump someone who has stayed at this property twice a year for the past 3 years is poor. The irony is that they can overbook and bump us yet I wouldn’t have been able to cancel my reservation the night before without penalty. We have traveled to Cleveland from NJ once or twice a year since 2000 and have stayed at Marriott properties every time. Loyalty obviously doesn’t mean much to large corporations.
Needless to say I’m incredibly disappointed and will be booking the Hilton for my future trips.
So disappointed. Been staying here 2x a year for many many years to see the Browns play. Booked my room a month ago to get a call from Alex that we were bumped. Got us a room at Kimpton which is now 1/2 mile longer each way. While that doesn't seem like much when you have a husband with a bummed knee and a young child, that matters. I asked why we were bumped and it was due to "status". I am sure we aren't the only ones that aren't Platinum status and suggested they could bump someone else. I am really disappointed. If they overbooked that isn't my problem and if they knew they over booked, they could have called prior to 8 hours before. The last Marriott property I stayed at 3 weeks ago had urine on the seat and no toiletries or towels. I guess this is the new way to treat guests that stay at your properties throughout the years.
There are several Marriott properties located downtown Cleveland where a Bonvoy Member can stay. My husband and I have previously stayed at this Westin location and it seemed like a no brainer to book again. Well, I can assure you that will not be the case in the future. While the facilities are well maintained and the on-site restaurant, Urban Farmer, is delicious, the level of service here is disappointing.
When we arrived at the hotel, it was Friday at noon and our room wasn’t ready. Fine, no big deal. My husband tells the girl at the elite front desk that we both have conference calls for work shortly and needed a quiet place. She suggested the noisy lobby or the restaurant Urban Farmer. My husband replies that he will “go try to find a quiet spot” and the receptions laughs. Never does she offer for us to use the business/executive lounge. She finally states she will call us when our room is ready, but never does.
This morning we go to the lounge to have breakfast before catching our flight home. It was 9 am and the lounge was running out of several key items. I asked the attendant for more bagels and she replied they were out. I inquired if there were any in the hotel to restock, she said no. I was very disappointed that no solution was offered for something as simple as a bagel. This wouldn’t have been as big of a deal if weren’t compounded by other examples of poor service.
We will not be back.
