Calm, quiet, tropical retreat

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay here, especially after a few nights in the touristy, loud area of Waikiki. It was exactly what we were looking for—calm, quiet, and charming on the breathtaking windward side of Oahu.

Our room, #62–a mountain view suite, had a jungle vibe with a private porch nestled in the lush gardens, the birds singing each morning and evening. The room was clean, spacious, and ideal for a couples get away.

We joined others at the resort for breakfast each morning (ooh, the morning rainbows were the best) and for the Monday evening hula dinner. The singer and dancer at dinner were lovely, and we really appreciated how they taught us about the island’s history and culture as part of the performance. The dinner was fresh and varied — a good sampling of local cuisine.

Because we were there over a federal holiday, they did not have the sandbar excursion on Monday. While disappointed, we decided to book our own kayaking and snorkel excursion at the He’eia State Park just 5 minutes down the road and had a great time.

The location was convenient for sight seeing around the island. The day we checked in, we drove from Honolulu around the south side, taking our time at the scenic overlooks, stopping for lunch at Buzz’s, and walking to Lanikai Beach to swim. After checking in that afternoon, dinner options were slim in town on a Sunday night, but we enjoyed a casual bite at Dean’s Drive In. Monday we drove the beautiful two lane north shore route, pausing for beach time and lunch in Haleiwa before taking LikeLike highway back. Our last day we enjoyed snorkeling, lunch at Waiahole Poi Factory, and shopping at the Sunshine Arts Gallery for local art. We even had a bit of time to use the laundry room at the resort so we could pack up clean clothes rather than salty, ocean soaked clothes. Of course, we enjoyed the pool and hot tub daily while at the resort.

Our last morning we had an early morning flight out of Honolulu and it only took 25 minutes to get to the airport. While we felt like Paradise Bay Resort was away from it all, it was a short drive from everything we wanted to see.

The staff were incredibly friendly, calling to check how our stay was going and being super responsive when we thought we didn’t have hot water (we did—we just weren’t turning the faucet far enough).

I would totally stay here again and recommend it for a couples get away. We even saw a few families with small children—the ease of a non crowded pool and lots of space to explore would be perfect for them.

Quiet, clean, charming, convenient yet secluded, and breathtaking views sum up our stay. Five stars!

Clean refurbished facilities with kayaking, sup, pool, yoga, and exercise equipment. No beach but the resort is on the Bay and accessible to the Sand bar. It's not Waikiki, but that is what makes this place refreshing. Breakfast is provided along with cooking facilities in the rooms.

Went on the snorkeling and sand bar tour and it was fantastic. Honey and Rallen were awesome guides and our entire family had a blast. The reef was beautiful and we got to see fish and turtles. Gave us plenty of time to look around and afterward went to a sand bar and had plenty of time to get out and walk around and play.
