How to Get There
We stayed here for 3 days in April, wished we could have stayed longer!!! The staff was excellent, went out of their way for everything to give you a great stay. We booked a water front cottage, and was worth every penny. All the complaints seem to be about the rooms, so instead of showing up and not getting upgraded, BOOK what you want and you wont be disappointed. You have to take on of the sand bar excursions, it was one of the biggest highlights of our 2 week trip. I want to thank all the staff, the were amazing
Having read other reviews it seems that people either love or hate this place.
Accommodation does include a mini kitchen if, like my husband, you like to cook on holiday.
The staff are friendly.
The location is convenient to the windward shore.
It is in a quiet area and a change from busy Waikiki.
They do provide snorkeling gear, towels etc.
The staff love animals.
There are not many alternatives outside of Waikiki.
Not so good
It is not at all like the website. I, like many others, booked based on the beautiful photos on the website. The photographer is of higher quality than this resort.
The walls are thin and the rooms tiny.
Like most of Oahu it’s incredibly expensive for what it is.
You can not swim in the sea close to the resort although you can kayak and there is a pool.
The rooms with a view do not have the view shown on the website- you can only see that from the restaurant.
Compared to the resorts in Waikiki it’s small and strange.
If you want to be away from the hustle and bustle of downtown though there’s not a lot of choice.
We stayed here for 8 nights.
We had a room with a view for the first 3 nights (the view was only viewable from a small corner of the room) but had to make a separate booking for the rest as the resort was booked out of view rooms. I asked three and a half months before that if a room with a view became available we would pay for it. It didn’t become available.
The first room had a view from one corner of the room and the second, standard, room was very small.
If we had it to do again we would have stayed for a couple of nights and enjoyed the quiet in the view room and then put up with the bustle of downtown to stay in a four star resort for a similar price.
I'm currently staying at this hotel now. The only reason I'm still here is because there are no other pet-friendly hotels available that will allow two dogs. I would have given this place two stars, but the website is very deceitful when it comes to what this place actually offers and I hate being lied to. The location is at the end of a very sketchy street with no beach access. The "resort" is actually very easy to miss because there's nothing that really distinguishes this place....it just blends into the neighborhood. There is nothing/no where to eat or drink on the premises....not even a sundry shop. You have to drive to get anywhere and the only place nearby is a 7-11. The room are extremely run down....the furniture is a joke and there's an AC unit in the window that's very loud but there's no trade wind breeze here so you have to keep the AC running. This entire property is stifling hot without any breeze and is infested with mosquitoes. Also, on the website it states that there's a "pet park" but that's a lie.....there's a patch of grass for the dogs to relieve themselves and that's it. For the price of this resort, almost any place else would be better.
Paradise bay resort is THE destination for the Hawaii bound traveler looking for peace, natural beauty, comfort, and fun (in groups of 20 or less). The beds are luxurious, especially the pillows, OMG im buying 100 when i get home. Breakfast is healthy, fresh (GREAT COFFEE) on a veranda overlooking the majestic Koolau mountains, and Brian and Rawlen run a superb snorkelboat tour right from the docks at the resort (try the complimentary mai-tais...try 2!) We wouldnt choose anywhere else to experience serenity in the beautiful side of Hawaii.
It is far from Honolulu but if you are trying to get lost this is a good one.
I would choose something in Honolulu if I were back there to be fair.
We were for a honeymoon and the room was not with views, most of the rooms were with views, I asked for an upgrade but the were "fully booked"???
But they were great giving us a really hot wine bottle for the honeymoon (joke)
Nothing of chocolate in the breakfast.....we need to be healthy buy something??????
The hotel was empty because we could not see many guest around.
We were there from the 4th of October to the 10th
