How to Get There
We love staying at the Outrigger Reef. We keep coming back because we are always made to feel like Ohana (family). Each year it gets better and better. From the moment we walk into the lobby, it feels special and exciting. When you first check in you are offered a cold towel, and a refreshing locally-inspired beverage which is a lovely touch to kick off your holiday.
We booked the partial ocean view with a king size bed for our 7-night stay. The bed was comfortable like dream and the view was fabulous.
On this visit we had the breakfast buffet at The Reef Bar & Market Grill. Such a great variety of food, and again the amazing view of the beach.
Some nights we had cocktails at the bar of the Kani Ka Phila Grille and listened to the local musicians. They have different musicians perform nightly. On two occasions they had locals dancing to the music. It was beautiful and took my breath away when the performer sang Pearly Shells while they danced. Some nights when we were too exhausted from relaxing all day we would open the balcony doors and hear the waves rolling onto the beach and the live music. Whilst the Outrigger Reef isn’t the cheapest hotel in town, you get what you pay for, and the quality, the amenities, entertainment, friendly staff willing to go above and beyond and the memories you make it is good value. If you are a first-time visitor to Hawaii or returning for a getaway I highly recommend this place. You won’t be disappointed. We will continue to come here every year. We just love the place!!
When we arrived on the Monday morning our room wasn't ready yet however they were fantastic assisting us after a very long flight. We stayed for six nights it was perfect. It was a great way to celebrate my wife's Hawaii five-0. We stayed in the Voyager 47 club which is good to do if you just want to relax and have a fantastic experience in Hawaii. The staff are warm and friendly, the accommodation you cannot fault, the overall experience was amazing. You must try the restaurants in the hotel if you don't feel like going out to eat because the food is great as well as the staff.
The housekeeping staff member who came to clean the room each day, did a fantastic job to accommodate our holiday. We were left a bottle of champagne on arrival. The hotel really makes you feel like family.
My sister and I stayed here for 10 nights for a graduation present. I have no complaints! We stayed on the top floor with a. view overlooking the outdoor pool, bar and ocean which was incredible. The hotel was extremely clean and the staff were super friendly. The staff was also helpful with any question we had which mostly regarded transportation and recommendations for activities. The beach/walk way that is right outside the hotel was a great way to wind down from the many activities that were planned each day. I would absolutely recommend checking out this hotel you would not regret it.
We stayed in the 10th floor on the ocean front room for 4 days on a recent trip. This is a great hotel. I liked the fact that it is not a monstrous place like the hilton village. The rooms we stayed in were pretty good size. Great views. Staff was very nice. Right in front of the beach. Not on the main thoroughfare, but close enough.
Now for the bad part, we travelled with a baby and wanted a microwave and we could not get one. We were ready to pay rent for it but they did not have one. There was one microwave in the common area on floor 2. All the good things about this place were negated by trying to go down 8 floors in the middle of the night to heat milk. Why wouldn't a hotel have a bunch of spare microwaves? It costs $50 for a cheap one and they rent it out at 15$ a night. So you make your money back in a few days at most. I never understand these kind of decisions. Esp. when you charge ~600$ for a room.
Also the power was out for a whole day for some transformer work. We decided to get out of the hotel that day so it did not affect us much.
My family and I stayed here for 11 nights. This was the 2nd time I stayed there for my vacation to Honolulu. I was so impressed the first time, it was no doubt I would stay there again. The room was perfect. Location was perfect, on thd beach and walking distance to the shops. The service was outstanding, especially one lady working there by the name of Donna. She was so welcoming and made my mother feel so special for her 70th Birthday. I thank you again.
