How to Get There
This is our 4th holiday in Bali. On previous occasions we have stayed at other hotels in Tanjung Benoa & Nusa Dua. These ranged from basic budget friendly hotels which were simple to more up market & fashionable hotels.
This year, we decided to stay 3 weeks at The Laguna in Nusa Dua. Our initial expectations were surpassed from the moment we arrived at the hotel. Our plane landed in the morning and collection from the airport had been confirmed by the hotel. On arrival in the hotel, we were welcomed by staff and immediately everything was taken care of.
We were provided a cold welcome drink and cold towels, then following registration, we were taken to our room which was a deluxe studio. The room was spacious and very comfortable, having everything a guest would require for a short or long stay. Sofa, coffee table chair, balcony with table & chairs, writing desk & chair, flat screen tv, etc.
We have enjoyed relaxing in the room during afternoon & evening. Butler service is only a call and it’s brought to the room promptly.
All members of staff make everyone welcome and can’t do enough to make the stay pleasant & memorable. We have truly been made to feel special.
There are numerous activities each day such as water volleyball, Yoga, Balinese craft making which are complimentary.
This morning Niko of the pool activities desk introduced us to Balinese craft making. We have also done Aqua aerobics & Yoga with him.
He is enthusiastic & pleasant and willing to help in all aspects.
The other members of staff are also very enthusiastic & show great interest in making the guest have a pleasant stay. There are all tremendous and credit should be given to them all, as they work hard in all aspects of this industry.
The hotel provides unlimited bottles of drinking water too, unlike many other hotels which limit to providing only 2 per day.
This holiday and hotel has been the best we’ve had to date and any guests considering staying here will not be disappointed.
Well done everyone at The Laguna. That also applies to the security staff at the gate who provide an important service in making this location very safe.
Great resort. Staff first class with permanent smile and who seem to thrive on interaction with guests, they love to talk about their beautiful island. Food very good. Rooms clean well thought out. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel. Right on beach where you can eat or drink late into the night. Loads of pools all well kept. Gardens laid out and very well maintained.

We were picked up in a beautiful vehicle and our driver was very polite and accommodating as well as entertaining us on our drive to the resort. We were in Villa 503 for 6 nights, and on arrival we were checked in by Anton and escorted to our villa from the private administration point used only for the villas at this resort. The villa itself was large with a 6m x 3m pool to laze and paddle in. The bedroom had king size bed with 4 posts and netting that was spectacular and an on suit with a spa bath that was also very roomy with an outside shower and massage table for your use. The kitchen was spacious and the living room was very luxurious for watching tv or entertaining. Once you left your villa, there is an area in front of the resort on the beach specially for the guest staying in the villas that was also first class with private sun beds and umbrellas and a waiter to service all your drinks and food. The restaurants on site all served first class food and at breakfast, there is so much to choose from and if you still aren't satisfied, the chef will prepare exactly what you would want. All the pools are fantastic, but our favorite was the sandy beach lagoon pool in the middle of the resort. A special mention to Lucia and Meli and their staff that made our stay one not to be forgotten and we look forward to our next stay at the Laguna. After this experience at the resort we would not entertain going anywhere else on our next trip to Bali.
We staid 3 nights with the view that after touring the island we can rest as it is calm and close to the airport!
It does feel a tad dated, well also we got spoiled as we staid in exceptional places while touring the island and Laguna did not feel as special. The staff is mixed, our butler was amazing! The reception staff also super good and helpful!
Now there are some dudes that handle the cab business and they are super dodgy and they belong to the hotel. So when you order a cab with them make sure you know the price before jumping in.
Also the room was very humid and the sheets were damp a little plus the air conditioning unit had some hickups, I would say they resolved it. An engineer fixed the aircon and someone brought a noisy de-humidifying machine which eventually did the trick. We had to switch it off at night as it was noise and had to empty the water container several times a day but its ok no big deal. The breakfast is good! Good selection and tasty plus nice helpful staff! The pools are nice and the beach is clean and the sea is calm good for kids!
The day beds-gazebos around the pools and close to the beach you have to book a day before as they get reserved quickly!
The kids club was a bit of a mystery, I think it is shared with Westin and for some reason we thought that it was too expensive.
You can’t use the Westin facilities as we had this impression as the 2 are sister companies that we can go next door.
All in all a decent hotel priced correctly I guess, but its not the wow one is hunting for in Bali, this is good for families, people that want to rest before they fly back. No sunset views.
We would go back for 1-2 nights if we need a place to stay close to the airport and a good rest before the fight home.
We stayed 9 nights here as part of our honeymoon.
It’s a large hotel with quite a few pools and a nice beach. Room very clean and all the staff are very friendly and helpful. The Spa facilities are free of charge which was great so we went there a couple of times.
As they knew it was our honeymoon they left slices of cake in our room for us on almost a daily basis which was a lovely touch!
Nusa Dua itself is very quiet but still a very nice place. There are quite a few restaurants at the Bali Collection shopping village, this is less than a 10 minute walk from the Laguna. In particular there are some great Indonesian, Italian and Indian restaurants there all at very reasonable prices with a couple often featuring live acoustic singers. For a bit of variety though there are a couple of nices places to eat along the beach just outside Nusa Dua, we got a taxi which was about a 10 minute journey and we also went to Kuta one afternoon and stayed for dinner. Kuta is just under 30 mins by taxi and it goes without saying that there are lots of restaurants to choose from there! Including some more well known chains such as Hard Rock and Bubba Gump Shrimp if you prefer.
Also worth a visit is Potato Head Beach club, this is in Seminyak and took us about 40 mins by taxi. You may need to get there before 11am though to secure a sunbed so we joined the queue at about 9:45am!
Tip for the hotel, the Cornerstone Deli is a great place to go for lunch. This is located up near the lobby and in here they serve fresh sandwiches and freshly baked complimentary cookies. The staff in here are also so kind!
Overall I would recommend the Laguna hotel for a stay in Bali!
