Overview

VIP hideaway on the remote Northumberland shoreline of Nova Scotia, with championship golf, spa, and sporting lodge

The Lowdown

A country retreat with an exceptionally grown-up feel, this sprawling estate’s hub is a giant golf course which ends at windswept Northumberland shores. Book one of twelve New England-style houses, each with private balcony or terrace, Frette linens, and a slew of luxe welcome amenities including wine, chocolate-dipped strawberries, cheese plates, and cigars. The tweedy, stealth wealth clientele congregate on the golf course, tennis courts, or shooting range during the day, then convene fireside with whiskey before heading to rich dinners of lobster and steak in the semi-formal Great Room restaurant.

In the Area

The idea here is to never leave the grounds, thanks to the endless array of on-site activities, from making the most of the great outdoors to indulging in head-to-toe spa pampering. Guests can take out mountain bikes (the resort provides 6 adult Treks and 2 children’s Norco bikes), paddle around in Ocean Malibu Kayaks or try their hand at beach volleyball on a court set next to the Northumberland Strait. In winter, head to Ski Wentworth, a mountain resort that lures boarders, skiers and tubers, just 25 minutes from the resort.

Awesome

Visited for 1 night on group stay and play package. We golfed twice , the greens were slow because of the cold weather and I usually hate playing on slow greens but the course , setting and views were so good we didn’t care. We stayed in a ocean view town house which was really nice and had an outstanding ocean view. We also did the clay sport shooting which I highly recommend. I’ve never shot before but this was a great experience. Everyone working at this resort is very friendly and super accommodating. The restaurant was excellent and our waitress Ellen was absolutely outstanding. We had a great time at dinner. The weather wasn’t great while we there but the resort and staff were so good that it made everything just above and beyond. Most Canadian resorts just don’t compare to the top USA resorts, this place is all about treating its guests right . This place does it right and I highly recommend it. 👍🏻

This resort is set up so that you don’t have to think about any inconvenience.
There is a full landing strip if you wish to land your private jet or helicopter. There is a deep marina if you wish to bring your yacht.
You can drive, there is loads of parking everywhere. If you wish to be dropped off, there is a van shuttle service that wii take you from your room to the spa to the golf course, to skeet shooting, to the beach kayaks.
There are 2 restaurants at the resort, a more casual one downstairs, and the more formal restaurant/bar upstairs.
Tim Horton’s fresh roasted coffee is available in every room. The rooms are so well done, I could probably live there. The fireplace in the sitting area of our suite was gas and really heated up the room quickly. The bedroom area was huge with lots of storage space. Even the large bathroom had heated floors.
The rooms are separated from the resort, so you need to use the resort’s transportation or your own car to get around.
The only disappointment was in the casual dining room. Apparently they get a number of groups of men that come to play the golf course. This particular group of men were quite loud, and obnoxious after several rounds of drinks. This magnified an error in food preparation so we chose to eat outside the resort on our second night there.
To their credit, the hotel comped our meal to try and make up for our poor dinner experience.

The Fox

If I were a rich man - I'd be booking regular visits to the Fox Harbour Resort. First, there's not a blade of grass or a pebble out of place on the property. The golf course is challenging yet friendly for average players. And the accommodations are out of this world (go executive). A marvelous place to relax, unwind and play a round.

Fox Harb'r Honeymoon Trip

The Fox Harb'r was a spectacular experience, the absolute perfect Atlantic getaway. Thank you Wedaways.com for arranging this special honeymoon trip for us. The property is enormous, with a stunning golf course perfectly appointed by the grounds crew. When you arrive you drive through the front 9 to the club house, and past the private airstrip. The spa and workout facility are first rate, and the enormous pool with a view is unparalleled. The entire staff was exceptional and extremely accommodating, especially given our particular dietary restrictions. Our executive suite was large, luxurious and impeccably clean and tidy. Our stunning room was on the 10th hole of the golf course with ocean views and PEI in the distance. Once on premises you feel like you are in an enclave and part of a small, happy community. Everyone that drove or walked by, for the entire weekend, gave a friendly wave and smile as they passed. Whether they were staff or guests, it seemed like everyone was so happy to be there. The Fox Harb'r is an absolute must, without question. We're scrambling in the calendar to find another opportunity to go.

Relaxing Stay

I spent 2 nights at Fox Harb'r at the start of their season and absolutely loved it. The staff were friendly, the food was amazing and the scenery felt like I was living in a postcard. I had a great time running on the many paths around the grounds and then relaxing at the spa after. I wish I had more time to check out more of their activities.
