Overview

VIP hideaway on the remote Northumberland shoreline of Nova Scotia, with championship golf, spa, and sporting lodge

The Lowdown

A country retreat with an exceptionally grown-up feel, this sprawling estate’s hub is a giant golf course which ends at windswept Northumberland shores. Book one of twelve New England-style houses, each with private balcony or terrace, Frette linens, and a slew of luxe welcome amenities including wine, chocolate-dipped strawberries, cheese plates, and cigars. The tweedy, stealth wealth clientele congregate on the golf course, tennis courts, or shooting range during the day, then convene fireside with whiskey before heading to rich dinners of lobster and steak in the semi-formal Great Room restaurant.

In the Area

The idea here is to never leave the grounds, thanks to the endless array of on-site activities, from making the most of the great outdoors to indulging in head-to-toe spa pampering. Guests can take out mountain bikes (the resort provides 6 adult Treks and 2 children’s Norco bikes), paddle around in Ocean Malibu Kayaks or try their hand at beach volleyball on a court set next to the Northumberland Strait. In winter, head to Ski Wentworth, a mountain resort that lures boarders, skiers and tubers, just 25 minutes from the resort.

Always perfection.
Reviewed 2 weeks ago

I have reviewed this resort before but realized I haven’t reviewed it since 2014 so thought it was time to update my review and to confirm it is just as amazing as it was in 2014.
We went twice last year....once for Canada Day and again for Thanksgiving weekend.
Both experiences exceeded our expectations as our visits to Fox Harb’r always do.
Canada Day was busier than our normal stay but the resort is so huge that it still feels like you are in your own little piece of paradise.
The food has become spectacular. I think my husband and I had the chowder each day we were there. The beef is always cooked perfectly. Breakfast is amazing. The cocktails are always spot on....I can just go on and on.
And the rooms make the stay very relaxing with the large windows and jacuzzi tub. The guest amenities are made by Molton Brown to which I am now addicted. The bed is so comfy, along with the robes and slippers.
And of course, there is that amazing golf course which is just as perfect as the rest of the resort.
Many thanks to Bethanie, who always makes my reservation for me and treats me like I am their most important guest (which trust me, I am not :).
We look forward to the gates opening for us this year as our travelling just isn’t complete without a trip to this amazing resort.

Excellent Shooting Trip To Fox Harb'r
Reviewed 6 months ago

We went to Fox Harb'rs for an excellent guys weekend of shooting, pheasant hunting and good times. We highly recommend the townhouses which are beautifully maintained and provide lots of rooms for groups to be together. George made our trip amazing. He ensured we had the equipment, guns, ammo and lots of instruction to make for a successful hunt even for the novices in our group. George also provided exceptional dogs and guides to facilitate a great hunt over perfectly maintained terrain. We hunted 3 different fields in all kinds if terrain and scenarios. Pheasant hunting at Fox Harb'r after the resort has closed for the season is truly exceptional - having the place to yourself is a very rare treat.

We would highly recommend Fox Harb'r as a world class pheasant preserve unlike any other in Canada.

Beautiful

It is greatly appreciated the comments that I read on here. As an employee of Fox Harb'r I want the visitor's to have the best time they can have. When I do my job I want everyone to walk into a room/townhouse that is clean and comfortable. From the first look out the window to the beautiful view of golf course to the ocean. First impressions make the difference! I've been lucky enough to hear the happy remark's and it makes me proud of the job I've done. Every time I get to spend time talking to people that are spending time here, whether for work or leisure is a blessing in my day. I'm so glad that you all enjoyed your stay because that's what it's all about. Relaxing!

This is a stunning place ; from the time you enter the property , to all the amendments available on site. The hotel rooms are modern , clean with wonderful beds . The restaurant food is grand and the service is very friendly. Can be a tad slow in the pub, I just think we showed up with too many people at once .
Finally had a chance to play the golf course , it is in fantastic shape and the wind off the ocean plays havoc with your ball. This facility is manicured to A one conditions , from the pro to the golf superintendent we where treated so professionally.
If you get a chance ,make time to stay here and enjoy this great property, you will not be disappointed.

What a fantastic resort! It was my wife’s first visit and she was blown away by this resort from the beautiful scenery to the exceptional staff. The staff is exceptionally friendly (thanks April, Danielle and Eric!) and go out of their way to ensure you have a great experience. The suites are truly exceptional and you feel like royalty when you visit. Thanks for everything! We will definitely be back!
