A country retreat with an exceptionally grown-up feel, this sprawling estate’s hub is a giant golf course which ends at windswept Northumberland shores. Book one of twelve New England-style houses, each with private balcony or terrace, Frette linens, and a slew of luxe welcome amenities including wine, chocolate-dipped strawberries, cheese plates, and cigars. The tweedy, stealth wealth clientele congregate on the golf course, tennis courts, or shooting range during the day, then convene fireside with whiskey before heading to rich dinners of lobster and steak in the semi-formal Great Room restaurant.
In the Area
The idea here is to never leave the grounds, thanks to the endless array of on-site activities, from making the most of the great outdoors to indulging in head-to-toe spa pampering. Guests can take out mountain bikes (the resort provides 6 adult Treks and 2 children’s Norco bikes), paddle around in Ocean Malibu Kayaks or try their hand at beach volleyball on a court set next to the Northumberland Strait. In winter, head to Ski Wentworth, a mountain resort that lures boarders, skiers and tubers, just 25 minutes from the resort.

I was instructed by some friends to sign up on Tripadvisor and write this review as I am not one to normally say or comment on service as I understand everyone has off and bad days. However my encounter with your property at both check in and check out with your front desk supervisor has left an impact on my faith in the service industry. She was rude and condescending at check in, if I asked a question about the property and amenities she would have a sharp snappy response. I had to find my way around the property by myself more less. At check out, she did not physically check me out, however Denise was fantastic and kind. I did overhear Felica talking to a staff in a doorway which i assume is her office? make comments about other staff that works at the property not doing their jobs and how she needs to fix everyone's mistake and that its ridiculous.. that there should not be allowed in a "supervisory" role. Most staff I came across at the property were lovely, and accommodating, very pleasant and made you feel welcome. The food and service was okay, however the grounds and course were absolutely stunning! Even had a Fox steal my husbands golf ball. However, my impact with check in and check out has left a very negative impact on myself, and I have shared this with friends and colleagues of mine. Being a business professional, and managing 560 employees, I myself would not tolerate this behavior, and certainly would not want this employee tied to the companies "image". Sorry to sound harsh about this matter, and put this on a live site, but I feel companies should be held accountable for not only their business but their staff that are representing one of Canada's finest's legacy's. Hoping to return next summer, however, I will be checking in to see if there is new staff at the front office to great meet.
